Seed capsules of Pedicularis palustris (Marsh Lousewort). Aka Red Rattle as seeds rattle in pods when shaken.

29810114342_91907e8500_b.jpgA Tern 'dread' by Brian, on Flickr

A 'dread' - where a colony of birds/terns all evacuate in an instant, flying low and fast until they're out over the sea - usually triggered by a predator in the area.

While out and about photographing wildlife, you often find the dead too. I found the remains of a kestrel in a local bog, and had fears it had been shot, but having examined its well decayed remains, I couldn't find any evidence of lead shot. I see Peregrine falcons in that area quite a bit (I saw three together several weeks ago), and I'd like to think the kestrel fell victim to one of those rather than a gun.

I think it's second biggest after habitat loss tbh! Kestrel is considered a farmland bird, they're pretty much all in decline!
