My nephew, who is a voluntary worker with the Kildare Animal Foundation, invited me over today to see one of their latest inpatients. This Otter kit was found abandoned in Co.Donegal over four weeks ago. It was believed to be approximately six weeks old when it was found. It's presently in a small cage, but will be released into a larger enclosure shortly, so hopefully I'll be able to get better shots then. It's already feeding on fish. When mature enough it will be released close to where it was found originally.

    Wish me joy!

I got my first Dodder kingfisher photo today :)

Light was poor -so taken at 2500 ISO and so a bit 'noisy' - but pleased to have got it

Not at all. The picture in question is fanned while horsetail is regularly rectangle in fossils.

Looks like a Common Marbled Carpet, Dysstroma truncata.

This link suggests it's common and a remarkably variable species:

A 2 year old photo from Lucan Demesne
I took it in RAW but didn't have the software at the time to process it in RAW.
Going back and re-processing some of those now that I can
