I know that that the 'cleaner- uppers' were within 3 feet of a Dipper nest today-without knowing.
But that was a one day exercise.

The Fishermen/women that I have seen on the Dodder since 17th March are very careless about wildlife and will wade in and have no interest in nests.

The issue is that some get animated about a long lens photo image( from people who care) - without considering what the real risks are( from those who don't)
I fully agree with you but was pointing out the law whether we agree with it or not.

Its official common name is the Large Red-tailed Bumblebee, but that just didn't sound right for us Irish! :) It has been designated 'Near Threatened' status here.

Long Tailed Tit Chick- taken 1st May( early?)

While standing on a bridge - I noticed a few of these chicks flying about... then one of them glanced off my forehead -no harm done to either party:)

A few of them landed on the bridge wall- and then flitted away
I'd say it was their first flight.

Taken around the same time as the chick's pic and close by- a proud parent?

    34260260831_331766b9aa_b.jpgparent

Just today read a bit more about these interesting birds..

    - In winter they huddle together in groups of 6-20 to preserve body heat.

-Their nests can be made from up to 2000 feathers- with an outer green camouflage.

-The LTTs who lose their own clutch will help feed a successful clutch
( especially if related to the successful parents)

My favourite bird. I had a flock of 66 in the garden decades ago.
