    The expression “shooting fish in a barrel” suited the antics of this heron. For around thirty minutes he literally gorged himself with minnows at this weir. Lifting his head to swallow them and then back down to catch more. When he had his fill he flew off to sun himself.

    Peregrine Falcon, Sparrowhawk and Jay. Dublin.

    Interestingly the chick Sparrowhawk was perching in exactly the same branch, exactly one year ago, as last year's chick. I remember the date as it was my first walk after surgery.
