    Oh facepalm!!:o Thanks.

Don't know how I missed that! Must be the really weird name, skimed right over it or something, never seen or heard of one of them before.

    Great Thread folks!!

Just took this photo this afternoon. Very unusual bird in the background. He has a white stripe down the top of his head, and stripes (I think) down the sides of his head. He looks a little punky. ;)

I'm no camera pro, so I don't have close-ups like some of the great photos on here.

    8kpfdrJ.jpg

Is that a finch to the left? He has an orangey chest.

Some beautiful birds in the garden since we started using bird seed, instead of just bread.

Btw, the blackbirds are mad for apples, chopped in half. They hop round the garden and run behind my trees.

The bird on the left is a male Chaffinch, the punk is a Coal Tit. You should be able to get pretty close to them at the feeders compared to the other birds.

Great set of pics. esp the owl. I had some difficulty picking out the snipe, my guess is two, one dead centre, another at 5 o'clock.

A flock of Long-tailed Tits came to the suet roll feeder this afternoon. They were landing around me no bother, I could have done with a wide angle lens!

Can anybody tell me what these two are?

In reply to your question asking for the names of the two last birds, I would say 2nd last is a female blackbird and last is a wren. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm no expert!

I have the same feeders as you! Bought in Woodies. They are very nice. I actually have two of them.

That's gone straight over my head I'm afraid!

But yes, Stephen is a Goldcrest. From your neck of the woods in fact, in Mote Park - which I only discovered existed the other day.

It was a lovely spot up until a few years ago, very large proportion cut down in the last ten years unfortunately :/

Just comparing the newer Bing to older Google Maps aerial shots and it does look like it has been gutted alright. I'll give it another couple of visits though, a single fox was about the height of what I saw yesterday.
