If you have a cat or dog, blackbirds starling and robins love the left off food. starlings will eat anything!

Took a few photos today, these are the best. I've only got a Canon G5, with no proper lens. Plenty of birds though. :D

I stood outside and they didn't seem to mind. Must be hungry.

There's a wren who has popped by a couple of times, that I've noticed. Maybe there's some particular food which would encourage the wrens?

I was reading something from Birdwatch Ireland recently about attracting birds to the garden - they said sprinkling some cheese under the hedge is good for getting Wrens.

From RSPB website Do not give them mild but Mild grated cheese can be a good way of attracting robins, wrens and dunnocks.
They are wildlife as well
By Spookwoman. Referring to rats being attracted to cheese that's put out under hedges.

Nothing surer!

Rather irresponsible though, IMO, to encourage that!

Love your pheasant pic! :D

Very easy to attract rats esp if there is an area near by for them to nest. Was thinking the pheasant may be a release from a local gunclub. Looking very healthy. I was parked on one side of the country road he was on the wall on the other.

Looked out the kitchen window to discover a whole bunch (I count 15) of goldfinches feeding off the ground. There was some nyjer seed on the ground, they had finished off the feeders.

Really need to get some more bird seed, for the sparrows and collared doves. I also better put out some fresh water for them.

I'm making do with throwing bread and cornflakes into the blender, and mixing that with whole porridge oats. I hadn't even closed the back door, but the crows were all over it.

I won't be winning any awards for my photos. ;)

Couldn't see a tag on the leg there but he definately looks well fed and probably not this years release maybe a season or two ago and well fed probably on corn
I was fishing last week as must've been at least 10-15 cock pheasants in one field some young and some mature but all well fed

Since I don't have a good lens, I decided to clean the shed window, and hide in there, waiting, for a close-up. (only had to wait 10 mins)
I'll have to position the pink feeder so that it isn't in-line with the other one.

Some quick and dirty shots from Spring migration in the Forties Field in the middle of the North Sea.

That should work now, in true FB style the useful bits have been hidden away, links to albums used to be clearly visible underneath the photos, now the option is buried in a menu! :-(

Tally so far; 3 x Blackbird (2♀ 1♂), 3 x Robin, 4 x Chaffinch (2♀ 2♂), 1 x Brambling, 1 x Lapwing, 1 x Dunlin.
Allegedly a BoP hanging around too, but not managed to get eyes on it yet, most likely a Kestrel or Sparrowhawk.

Great photos of the dipper - not easy when they're so small!!
