I see Ryanair issued a Profit guidance to Shareholders yesterday that profits will be at the lower end of previous forecasts, which led to shares falling significantly.

Several have commented on this forum that they've noticed fares have been creeping up for at least the last year.

The combination of good weather at home, baggage costs, which as the Telegraph reported a couple of weeks ago mean that it can be cheaper to courier your bag to your destination than put it on the plane, spiralling fares and endless stories about being unfairly fined for not following the rules have shown that people's appetite for flying Ryanair is not without limit.

As a result, for the fist time in a while, we are back to seeing "Seat Sales" again at a good few €s less than they were only a couple of weeks ago.

Left my car in garage for service and Polish guy giving me lift back to work was telling me that nearly all Polish people use couriers for their baggage when going home as it's cheaper than Ryanair baggage charge.

Of course too risky if you're heading off to Spain for a weeks' sunshine.

Hi I'm trying to book flights with Ryanair for six people.at the moment it says only 2 seats remaining at this price.after I select 6 seats the price jumps up about €30 each.so was wondering If I just book the 2 seats at the low fare when I go back on and try book another 2 will I still get the low fare or will the price be jacked up anyway? Or maybe if I wait to book 2 more seats next week will it go back down to the original price and still say only 2 seats remaining at this price??? .thank you

.......or maybe when you log in again the two seats will be gone :D

more likely if you go back in it will be even higher again. they keep raising the prices closer to the time of flight. check out other options for your flight.

i fly a lot, i hate flying ryanair the other week i was in Liverpool due to fly home and ryan air was asking for £330 Stg for a one way flight Liverpool to dub.
so i got a £25 train journey for 1 hour and i was at Manchester airport where i had booked a £100 Aerlingus flight

    here we go...
    http://www.irishtimes.com/business/sectors/transport-and-tourism/ryanair-clips-wings-of-online-critics-1.1524279

Ryanair has outlined to a court in South Africa the steps it is taking around the globe to identify people who are making anonymous critical comments on the internet about its attitude towards safety.

The airline has secured an order forcing African telecoms group Telkom to furnish it with information that might help identify a person who has made internet postings using the tag alwaysflying. The company is also seeking information on a specific IP address in South Africa.
The person has made postings on an internet site called PPRuNe.org, which is used by pilots to discuss matters to do with their work.
Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary: Ryanair had sued over articles based on a television documentary programme that claimed to reveal safety and fuel issues at the airline. Photograph: Bertil Enevag Ericson/Scanpix/Reuters
Libel settlement ‘vindicates’ Ryanair safety, says O’Leary
The Irish Times takes no responsibility for the content or availability of other websites.
Ryanair company secretary Juliusz Komorek told the court in an affidavit that one posting falsely portrayed the airline as having an incompetent flying crew and that this could affect the airline’s reputation and business.
The posting read: “I don’t care if it’s wind/ delays/ weather or anything, if you are flying around your destination eating into alternate fuel then you shouldn’t be a pilot. If they were employed at my company I would have fired the lot of them!”
Mr Komorek told the court the airline had no objection to honest, objective and legitimate comment, but would seek the removal of unlawful and wrong statements and seek a public apology.
The court was told Ryanair had engaged a law firm in Los Angeles, Holland & Knight LLP, to file libel proceedings against a number of defendants in the Los Angeles Superior Court.
It had also issued proceedings against Internet Brands in California, the registered owner of the PPRuNe.org site, and issued supoenas against Yahoo, Microsoft and Google in pursuit of information.
The information gathered was examined for it by specialist consultancy company Word to the Wise, which idenfied IP addresses in Ireland, the UK and South Africa.

    ‘Always flying’
It is understood Ryanair has indentified the person who used the ‘always flying’ tag and will take legal proceedings as a result. In some cases the airline has secured public apologies from people who made anonymous postings as well as donations to charities, according to one source.
Earlier this year Ryanair got court orders in the Republic instructing Eircom and UPC to provide it with information concerning the identity of parties whom, the High Court was told, had made postings that falsely impugned Ryanair’s excellent safety record.
It has initiated up to six sets of legal proceedings in the Republic against individuals who made postings on PPRuNe.org concerning the airline, according to the source.

Ok as the title says this is complicated so bear with me.....

A friend bought me a flight with Ryanair as a surprise, he's a frequent flyer with them and always just makes up a passport number and expiry date when booking online if he does'nt have his passport with him at the time. He did this with my booking, he says its never a problem as they check your passport for ID not to verify the number or expiry.

I had'nt planned on travelling anywhere and when I checked my passport it had expired !! I did'nt mind too much as I have a US passport as well ( please lets not get into a discussion on dual citizenship, this thing is complicated enough:confused) so decided I would travel on that.....

When I went online to print my boarding passes I saw that non Eu residents have to go to check in before going through security and onto the gate. So when I go there and produce my US passport will they refuse to accept it as its not the passport used when bookiing the flight.??

My friend thinks I should go ahead and go to the gate, produce my Irish passport for ID and my US one for travel, I don't think they will accept an expired passport for ID......:(

I don't have time to get a new passport so thats not an option, is it possible to change passport details or would it cost as much to do that as to book another flight....

I did say it was complicated but it's probably very simple and the answer is that I have'nt a chance.....:(

You don't need a passport or ID to book a Ryanair flight ??

Like I said my friend booked the flight and he did have to give a passport number, he gave me the ref number and payment details and when I went to print the boarding pass it said the passport details had already been provided. There was no option to change them.

No passport details need for booking. Did your friend check you in aswell? This is the stage you need the details, as others have said.

Try ringing a ryanair to change the passport details.

No you don't, you only have to give First name and Last name.

Passport, Date of Birth and Country of Issue is only done during online checkin.

    http://www.ryanair.com/en/questions/non-eu-eea-passengers-document-check-requirements-for-online-check-in
Non EU/EEA passengers - Document check requirements for online check-in?

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL NON EU/EEA PASSENGERS

Irrespective of a passenger's visa requirements, all non EU/EEA citizens must have their travel documents checked and online boarding pass stamped at the Ryanair Visa/Document Check Desk before going through airport security.

All non EU/EEA passengers must do this in order to ensure compliance with immigration authorities.

RYANAIR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CANCEL YOUR RESERVATION WITHOUT REFUND AND TO DENY YOU BOARDING IF YOU DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE ABOVE REQUIREMENT

So Check in online and then go to the desk to have the boarding pass stamped.

Unless your friend already checked you in online which means you'll have to ring the call center to get it changed:

    http://www.ryanair.com/en/notices/gops/090520-Online_check-in-GB
Please call our Reservations Centre to correct or amend any photo ID details that have been incorrectly entered or reissued.

    NON EU/EEA Passengers

ALL Non EEA/EU passengers MUST present their online boarding pass and passport to be checked and stamped at the Passport/Document Check Desk BEFORE going through security or travel will be refused. The Passport/Document Check Desk closes strictly 40 minutes prior to the scheduled flight departure

I am afraid they will scan for an EU passport. You will not make it over scanning controls.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,875 ✭✭✭✭MugMugs

They check your name matches the name on the ticket and that you are that person. They also check expiry.

  • Registered Users Posts: 131 ✭✭computer44

    Believe me,

If you are an EU citizen coming out of Dublin you should have a valid EU passport.

Ryan air are not the kind of people that give refunds.

Travelling on a US passport and your an EU cit will get you
in to all sorts of trouble.

I hope immigration sees to this.

What channel are you through, red or green.

So could I go to the check in with my US passport, the name matches and its not expired, it just won't be the passport used to check in online....

Thanks for that, very helpful.... Like I said I have a valid passport for travelling in and out of the country but my friend did'nt use this one when he checked me in online.

You might run into visa issues using a US passport.

OP, your situation isn't complicated at all, it happens all the time.

Just change your details via the call center as you checked in online with the wrong ones.

Your Irish passport isn't possible to use.
Your US one is possible to use but you need to change it on the check in details and go to the desk at least 40 minutes before travel.

Just keep on mind, sometimes it's cheaper to book a new ticked as opposed to paying the fee to change the details of you current booking.

Given that you don't require a VISA for your destination, yeah, you'll be fine.
