    Where were the lifeguards?

Most beaches in Italy have lifeguard supervision.

2 were rescued, 2 were not. It was severely rough it said. Life guards aren't superheroes.

Did you read the article? They are beggars.

Beggars don't have parents? Anyway everybody here is upset about the people who stayed on the beach, who actually saved two of the children. They should be directing their anger towards the parents of these children who sent them out begging!!!

Oh I know, I agree the parents are mostly to blame here. My point was simply that we know regardless of nationality, we see it in our own country too, parents of beggars will often send their children out unaccompanied.

 You missed my point. People are saying they are sunbathing. Last time I checked, you don't sunbathe sitting up like that with your belly creased like that.

No actually I got that bit Javaboy. And it isn't clever this time round either. Cant knock ya for trying though. Now as I was saying, seeing as you're so defensive of these onlookers maybe when you die no-one will bat an eyelid either. See? Not nice is it. Good night now!

They were rescued by beach goers.

Apparently the Cardinal of Naples and the UN High Commissioner rely on the Mirror for their news too.
Last night, Crescenzo Sepe, the cardinal of Naples, condemned the attitude of holidaymakers, saying: "At times turning the other way or minding one's own business can be more devastating then the event itself.Another tragedy has struck at the heart of Naples, a terrible tragedy which the church has every sympathy for the victims and two precious lives lost. In those pictures you see their bodies covered by towels and in the background holidaymakers who appear more upset at the fact there view of the beach has been obstructed. These images along with photographs of Naples submerged in rubbish in its other emergency should never have to be seen. Indifference should not be a sentiment for human beings, it is not the time for Naples to be hit by another new and more serious emergency, that of indifference."
The UN High Commission for Refugees expressed its condolences to the families of the two victims. ”While we express our condolences we also express worry at the circumstances of how the tragedy unfolded," said Laura Boldrini. Accounts would seem to suggest that hardly anybody intervened to save this children and even in death there seemed to be total indifference as their bodies lay on the beach while people continued to enjoy themselves. I wonder if these people would have behaved in the same way if the children in question were Italian and not Roma? How can people show such a lack of compassion?”

It is a bit OTT without better first account information.

Looks like you missed my point again to be honest. And I'm not really being defensive of the people. I don't know the facts. I'm just attacking the Daily Mail's attitude.

Anyway I'll say it again. My point was that some people were saying they were still sunbathing. I don't think they look like they are sunbathing because nobody is lying down. I'm not trying to be clever. I'm just stating a fact. Those people do not look like they are sunbathing. Anyone who says that the people in those photos are sunbathing is deluding themselves or **** stirring.

Try making an argument instead of just acting childish, I'm embarrassed for you. javaboy has made a valid point, one which I agree with. How do you know how many eyelids were batted? The bodies were supposedly there for an hour. Are you assuming that photograph was taken in even the first ten minutes of the children's death? The onlookers could have been crying or jumping around screaming or whatever it is you expect of them long before that photo was taken.

How the hell do you know that these people didn't bat an eyelid?

It took an hour for the police to arrive, and in that time el raggo managed to get a few pics of people who weren't crying, hence, surely they all couldn't care less?

    Edit: beaten to it :D

The vast majority of Italians are shower of pricks anyway so it's not surprising that they seemed unfazed by the deaths of children from what they regard as an hugely inferior race (actually Italians seem to think most races of people are inferior to them anyway......pasta eating muppets!).

Not too different to the Irish attitude to Roma... or "da Romanians" as those who don't bother to learn their real name refer to them here.

That's weird. I was just doing that to the "what can you see" thread!

Probably not a good idea on this thread for that to happen tbh. I bet though if the Daily Mail printed pictures of the beachgoers crying they'd put something nice and tasteless like "The Italian Sob" over it.

Or an image caption like "Lady and the Tramps"? I quite agree, bad show Daily Mail, bad show.

Look there are clearly people sitting on a fukking beach with children's corpses yards away. How many times do I have to make that point? Whether or not the onlookers are sitting up or lying down is just being bloody pedantic. They are still there. On a beach. With the dead bodies of children . Which I find morbid and disturbing. That alright? And I couldnt give a sh1t how 'embarrassed' you are Mirror or anyone else for that matter. That's my point of view and just because it differs to the Cool Crew I'm 'childish' Perhaps everyone else should just fukk off and leave the 'experts' with 10,000 posts to play with their buddies.

    *starts the cliched slow clap*

You've just now managed to summarise the facts that most of us have accepted!

    1. A beach
    2. Two dead bodies
    3. People relatively near by

Nobody argued this with you. If you find the combination of these facts morbid and disgusting, so be it. But then, what were you arguing?

For whats its worth I agree with everything you said, I didn't bother posting because the points people were making defending the indefensible was just pathetic in my view and I thought that posting would be a waste of time, I mean people are just sitting around and looking when there is two dead children lying on the beach, I think its discusting:mad:

Why are you so afraid of death? Ever visited someone in hospital? Chances are someone with an illness coluld have passed away and lain in bed yards from you...or even think about what lies down the hall in the mortuary or in the ER?

Once again and I'm not being pedantic here. Someone said they are sunbathing. I made a reasonable argument against the idea that they are sunbathing. You took issue with it because you thought I was being a smartarse or something. I'm not. I'm merely pointing out that those people in that particular photo are clearly not sunbathing. They could be about to sunbathe. They could be just finished sunbathing but in that photo they are not sunbathing.

It's hardly being pedantic to discredit the accusation that they are sunbathing when they are clearly not. If they were sunbathing, I might have a different view on this but the only photos I've seen don't show anybody sunbathing.

I think the reason you were called childish was because you automatically assumed that because I didn't believe they were sunbathing that I must not give a **** about the dead kids. That's not true. One doesn't follow from the other. I think it's a very sad story. You went personal with it with the whole "how would I feel if nobody bats an eyelid when I die" crap which would be offensive if I cared in the slightest what you think.

C'mon guys, how can you trust this newspaper at all? The only evidence is of people sitting on the beach while waiting for the authorities to arrive. I certainly won't be forming any judgement of those people until I hear it from somewhere trustworthy that they did something wrong.

Exactly. The Daily Mail wants a story, the Daily Mail gets a story.

All it would take was one photo of the empty beach with a seagull nosing around the bodies. Then we'd have "Callous boozing holiday makers leave dead children to the scavengers" headlines.

As was said earlier, pictures lie and if they didn't then the Daily Mail would lie.

Italians just hate the Romanians and from what I've heard you can't really blame them. Two more dead Roma gypsey children means two less beggers/thieves/rapists/murderers on their street in the future. From an Italian standpoint, the Romanians just cross over into their country and take complete advantage of them. Italy's corrupted government won't defend it's people. The Romanian government just offlad these pikeys into a different country.

    Or maybe:
Kids die, respectful Italians put a towel over the bodies and then vacate scene out of respect.
20 minutes later more holidaymakers come along and think: "sweet! empty beach except for those 2 kids having sex under that towel."

Or maybe not. But when the Daily Mail's involved, it's always best to consider the alternatives!
