    Hi all,

Looking for some advice regarding online exposure or marketing as you may call it smile.gif

If I had a company which I wanted to promote online and drive SEO should I be looking into Social Networking as a resource …

I have been thinking of setting up a Bebo, MySpace, Facebook pages for the company and seeing if I can join specific groups related to the specific type of business

We are also looking into blogging and currently have an active Youtube account for videos

The company is a Software company

Any help/advice from anyone out there with experience or something to offer is greatly appreciated smile.gif

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

In order to generate activity to your website I would log on to Yahoo Site Explorer, https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/;_ylt=A86.OUnKXIhIu_wAxB2s.M4F

Which will enable you to track all sites linking to your web page, in order to optimise your page ranking you must be linked to as many relevant sites as possible and have relevant sites linking back to you. Using Yahoo Site Explorer will enable you to track who your competitors are linked to also.

Next I would consider using your site as an informative tool or offering an incentive for going to your site like discounts. Using Facebook and other social Networking sites can have both a positive and negative effect on your company image. It really depends on your companies target audience, for example you need to be wary of those who may generate bad publicity for the site by posting bad reviews etc..

For the company which I work for, we considered all these options. The most effective has been the links to multiple sites and Adwords.
This is a very effective tool for driving traffic to your sites and cost as little or as much as you want, you can manage it yourself.
We have been using this tool for a year now and the increase in sales leads have been phenomonal.

Let me know should you need any more information and I will be happy to help

The most effective means of promoting your software business would be through search engine marketing without a doubt. Social Networks are good if you want the company to appear youthful and fun but don't expect much actual business to come from it. As harobed said, you should have someone monitoring comments on your profiles regularly and be careful what is posted about you.

I used to manage Technology companies in the UK and one of their main gripes with Google advertising was that their ads were showing on Bebo and Facebook and generating a lot of expensive clicks on their ads that lead to no conversions. The best advice I could give you here is to advertise on Google and opt out of their content targeting system until you know what you're doing. Start out with a small budget (€5 - €10 per day) and see how you go.

Otherwise, you could always contact a local, friendly digital marketing agency person like myself :)
