Can't set @ (default) host name

The Domain Management tool doesn't let me save the @ Host name. Everytime I try, the page reloads without an error and without saving the @ and IP pair.

but whenever I click Add new, enter the details

then click Save, the page "saves" but the @ value never appears in the Host Records table.
