Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I need replacements for RobBurke in Round 21

    and

    monkeyfudge in Round 24.

I have games in progress with both, but they seem to have disappeared off the radar.

Suder (daiz666) bt Dave 147 (Jasperov)

    Round 21

Great game! We were both primed for major assaults there, it was just a matter of who gained momentum first!

Apologies for the delay in posting this result:

    Figs -bt- Rashers

    Round 22.

Twas a fight to the end and the better player won.

    Thank you.

I'm reporting another beating this morning.

    Green Athene -bt- Rashers

    Round 12

Well played GA. You caught me nicely. Thanks for the game.

Wile E Coyote, are you around?

You've got until the end of the month before I skull you  Already sent two email reminders.

    suder (daiz666) bt xavi6

    Round 17

A long one but a good one, thanks!

  • Registered Users Posts: 907 ✭✭✭Rashers

Did we get replacements for RobBurke and monkeyfudge?

I'm in games with both and thinking of binning the games. But who to play as replacements?

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 9,545 Mod ✭✭✭✭BossArky

Maybe it is a bit too late to add replacements. This would mean the new players will have to catch up and play all the games, which will slow down the final league result. How about just going by win% when people drop out:

    e.g.
    Player A played all 10 games, wins 5 --> 50%
    Player B played all 12 games, wins 8 --> 75%

    etc...

We should have a Cup competition too!

I hope we have lots of competitions. It was about 35 years since I played before the Boards games came up and I'm enjoying rediscovering the game.

Agree it's too late to add replacements, otherwise the league will go on a long time... However, think it's fairer that they just forefit all their games. Otherwise, someone could have 100%, ie. played one, won one. Basically, everyone wins against those who drop out (regardless of the original result), and means everyone is on an equal footing.

    As for my latest results,

    Figs 1 - 0 nummnutts - Round 28
    Von neumann 0 - 1 Figs- round 18

    Also up for the cup!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,478 ✭✭✭Bubs101

I kind of regretter not having a cup instead of a league because a cup is a lot easier and everybody finishes at the same time. Think I'll go with the ladder first for around 2 or 3 months after this because for one, it means anyone new can join at any time and secondly, it should help with seeding the cup

    +1

    Another result...

    Figs 1 - 0 Popinjay - round 15

Good battle. Thanks for the game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 907 ✭✭✭Rashers

    And another result...

von Neumann -bt - Rashers. Round 22.

I'm just going to bin my games against RobBurke and monkeyfudge.

Thanks for a good game von Neumann. You caught me nicely in the endgame.

    falloffgirl 0-1 Pherekydes

Move timeout. I've been very patient, but you've moved in other games, so I'm guessing you're just waiting for me to kick the bucket to claim the win. :p

Yeah I just couldn't face looking at that game again. :) Think it's the worst I've played so far. Thanks for the game - and sorry I was so slow to make moves.

    Round 10:

    BossArky 1 - 0 Will E Coyote

Time out win. Sorry dude but you are taking way too long to move. I've developed across the middle of the board and you've only got a bishop out to A5 and lost a central pawn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,235 ✭✭✭Dave147

I've also claimed a timeout win against Wile E Coyote, 15 moves and started the game a month ago, I have 2 bishops a rook and a knight, he had 3 pawns so it's safe to say I would've won the game regardless just fed up of waiting so long for him to move.

    Wile E Coyote 0-1 Jasperov(Dave147) Round 15.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,636 ✭✭✭henbane

I have two slots open. Can people who are likely to move frequently give me an invite? I'm going to be away for the guts of a month from the 12th so I'd like to get a couple more finished before I go.

    Catch22ie v pulp163 , Catch22ie wins thanks for the game

  • Registered Users Posts: 907 ✭✭✭Rashers

I have two games. One against RobBurke and the other against monkeyfudge... neither have moved since beginning of October.

Despite reminders neither have moved. Should I claim time default wins or just bin the games?

Rashers -bt- RobBurke. Boards round 21.

Rashers -bt- monkeyfudge. Boards round 24.

Sorry folks but claiming time default wins. Waiting 5 weeks+ for moves is not on.

Do we have a definitive answer on the "inactives"? Or at least a consensus?

What do we do with their matches? Have we found any replacements?

    Questions, questions...:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,478 ✭✭✭Bubs101

Sorry, i thought that it was agreed a few pages back that it would be too inpracticle to find replacements this late so you could just bin them. Banjopaul lost every match so everyone gets a point from him as well

Umm... according to the score board I have played 14 games. I've only played 12. Lost 4.
Edit: Wait - are those 2 wins from people who dropped out? Which two?

    Or is it 3?

I don't think I ever posted the game result against Xavi6. I forget. So...
    falloffgirl v. Xavi6 round 9

    Hope I'm not being confusing.

figs and Dave147 - I'll start the games you challenged me to soon as I finish up some I'm playing now. In the middle of 3 and am swamped with college work so it's too much to take on another one yet.

Yep, you can add wins over monkeyfudge, Rob Burke and banjopaul to your records. I have your result against xavi. Maybe he posted it?

It's in my sig. If you've sigs turned off you can access it in my profile. I think it's up to date. It always helps for people to check their own records and tell if they don't match. I'm snowed under with college work, too, and I may have missed results.

Well I should have 15 games played and 11 won if you count those three and I only have 14/10. So I'm missing one somewhere.

Well done to falloffgirl and ztz who beat myself in round 7 and 8 respectively.

I just resigned there in those games so I can open up some slots for more games (rather than fighting a losing battle), as I seem to have completed the least games, so I have a lotta catching up to do.

Going to try to get a lot of moves made this week in any games I get. Currently two slots available in my games list.

    Cheers folks!
