solar powered driveway gates?

    Solar powered remote controlled driveway gates?Can these be got in Ireland? I'm looking for gates that require no electrical supply ie working from solar power only with manual override facility if there is not enough power available.

    You'll be needing a battery storage unit to power 24v, and a big enough solar panel, doesn't sound like a runner in Ireland ....but....
    Try http://www.aos.ie for FAAC solar power units to the gate automation

    Or for a sensible priced DIY installation, check out www.ebay.ie and search for "solar power automatic gate". There's a few options there.#

    wouldn't bother to be honest, you'd be replacing a battery every coupla years, as said its not really a runner, hook the solar panels(pv panels) up to your houses demand and power the gates from your house's elec feed, thats if its possible to run a cable out to the gates
