Clarification of what is considered homophobic

Recently posted in the soccer off topic thread where as usual there is plenty of witty banter happening.
Someone posted saying there friend had "come out" on Bebo and wasnt sure if it was true or a set up.
    I made a reply saying
"ask if he had seen Mamma Mia if he had then it wasnt a hoax."

    GuanYin replied
"I know several guys who saw that movie and they are all straight."

I then retorted with an image of a cat with the phrase
"I want to believe" written underneath it.

To which GuanYins retort was i was that i was being homophobic and was considering banning me for the infraction.

I replied giving the definition of homophobia and saying what i said was far from homophobic.

In pm then im told that i had 5 mins to remove my comments and that, along
with a PM which i sent to another user and not the mod in question was lining
    me up to be banned.
Now im a regular poster in the soccer forum and have been for a long time
and always "kept my nose clean" as it were.
I dont think i overstepped the boundaries to be honest in any way as what i
wrote is far from overstepping what normally happens in the aforementioned thread.

Just looking for some clarity regarding my belief that this is beyond ridiculous
and is more due to being disliked by said mod rather than relating to what i
    actually said.

Either way i will not be posting in the soccer forum again so bannings etc are irrelevant at this point.

On the face of it, this does seem a touch overzealous.

I had read the thread earlier and thought it light hearted banter. Did you have it out over PM?

OP, why absent yourself from the soccer forum if you're a regular poster there? That's cutting off your nose to spite your face.

    Not your ornery onager

Sounds like GuanYin is having a bit of trouble coming to terms with the fact that his straight'ish mates are all watching Mamma Mia, i'd be shatterd:D

Don't mind soccer forum, rugby and hurling are the way forward...

Thinking guys are gay because they watch a certain film isn't homophobic, its just retarded.

You've seen mamma mia, haven't you?

    Umm, off, topic, and banter.

Perhaps there's more to this that hasn't been disclosed, no need to break out the pitchforks just yet.

Yes, but he didn't like it, and he didn't inhale.

I wasnt replying to you when I made the comment.

I was replying to the post that branded a group of posters "queers".

I even did it in a rather casual and none-too serious way.

I'm not sure what is overzealous about that.

You took it upon youself to question my decision in a thread, against the forum charter assuming it was all about you.

Instead of banning you, I told you to remove the post and then explained that it wasnt about you.

I then pointed out that questioning modding in forum threads normally results in a ban and pointed out that I didn't appreciate you misprepresenting me to other posters as you had previously.

    What am I missing?

Misrepresent you to other posters ?
What on earth does that mean exactly just for clarity.

    That sounds perfectly fine.

    ho·mo·pho·bic
    adjective
Definition: having irrational hatred of homosexuality: showing an irrational hatred, disapproval, or fear of homosexuality, gay and lesbian people, or their culture

Sounds familiar. Banned for light-hearted banter. Trigger happy mod

Saying that will probably result in my ban from the soccer forum being extended... :(

That post was deleted before i replied and seeing as mine was the only post
which was part of that discussion is it not a pretty safe assumption for me
to make to think the comment was directed at me?

If so, then the correct course of action is to PM me and ask what I'm talking about, not post in the thread.

    It isn't all about you.

If you want to go into the mis-representation, that would be you PMing posters telling them that your "putting me in my place" via PM resulted in actions regarding moderating. Which obviously isn't the case.

I really think you need to step back and stop obsessing about what I'm doing in soccer, or indeed stop thinking every post by me is directed at you. You'll know when I've a problem with your posts.

Irishmike, what parts of the bits in bold do you disagree with?

    By the way.

Poster assumed comment was about them, broke rules and then started feedback thread.

Who exactly is the overzealous one?

Do we still have an issue here?

There is no way that the OP can make out there is still an issue, the question is will he be man enough to accept that?

Considering he's resorted to making veiled insults on my character via PM, I'm going to guess not.

That said, unless someone else wants to weigh in, I consider the matter closed and next time the poster breaks a rule, I won't give them the grace period to undo their post (as apparently doing this is a power trip).
