A guy i know keeps getting his credit removed by a blank txt msg from an iternet address with no number.
it is impossible to unsub to this service and the only idea he has as to who is sending it is the senders address of
    http://iewap.mobi/rm/fone/main.wml.

what can be done to stop this scam?
has anyone being through this before.
he's goin to report it to comreg tomorrow.

These are called service messages. You can unsubscribe by contacting your network and requesting the phone number of the company that is sending them, ring the number and unsubscribe that way .Had a few customers come in with this problem and that was the way i sorted it for them.

That link you posted has information in the WML file (it's a Wireless Markup Language file, like XML but for Mobile Phones).

Realm, heh, why am I not surprised..?

The WML link will work only with a WAP browser, which your phone will likely have. However, chances are you have a HTML browser as default, so that clicking on a link will launch that and you won't see a thing. You will need to go to your WAP browser (it might be called something like 'services') and type the URL in to access it.

Get your friend to contact his operator and then send an email to RegTel if he believes the charge was unsolicited.

As to the 'offer', having worked in the business, it is (or was) standard enough practice in the Irish and UK PSMS industries - hook people into a subscription and then make it as user unfriendly as possible to unsubscribe. Even then, you should see how high the churn rates are on these things.
