Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all
I got the bug about 2 years ago and resisted so farto buy a motorhome but I'm going to purchase maybe end of year. Have still some questions that would like to know the answers if anyone can help.

1.) I know it's a bit of a silly question because it depends on weight and roads and so on but what mpg would you get on average from a 2.5lt motorhome.

2.) Also what if anyone knows woul it cost for winter parking either indoors or outdoors for same?

    Thanks in advance.

I would't know about storage but I can tell you about fuel consumption.

According to a large German forum, your average 2.5 Liter Fiat or Ford will use between 10 - 14 Liter /100 km. A lot depends on weight, but also on the shape and on how heavy your right foot is.

My ancient van uses between 10 - 11 l/100km ...considering that it's 3.5 tons full up, that's not bad.

    Hello Chris and All,
I have a Fiat Ducato 2.5L between 3.5 and 4 tonnes.I'm just back from my first trip which was 4000km over mountains. We kept a record of costs and it worked out at about 19.5 MPG. Hope this is of some use.

In order to run on these fuels you will have to make some alterations to your engine, which will carry a cost.
Recently alternative fuels have also experienced price increases and the difference to diesel is now near negligible. Unless you drive your camper all year round and for long distances, you won't recoup the cost of engine alteration.

Basically the answer is ...forget it.

camper guy, please call over here:

    http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/forum/index.php

If your van is indirect injection preferably with a Bosch injection pump you may be ready to go without any modifications even on the straight veggie oil.

If direct injection, basically forget it, although a dual tank conversion kit may be available. There are many problems with direct injection engines with veggie oil including piston rings gumming leading to a engine failure.
