sweat off some chopped celery, chopped leaks and chopped onion in some butter. when they have reduced add in some fresh chopped tomatoes, tomato puree and a couple of tins of chopped toatoes.
add vegatable or chicken stock for taste.

make a roux (pronounced roo), mix flour and oil into a thick paste.

when the soup mix has boiled add in a little roux to thicken to your personal taste

finish with cream.

(you could also add some fresh basil for a tomato & basil soup)
