Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Vista: ".exe" files - 'Run' box opens then disappears, then opens then disappears :-/

    I have Windows Vista 32-bit Home Basic. 70% of the time when I download a .exe file and open it, the installation box appears on the screen, then disappears after one second, then re-appears and then disappears again. Either that or when I try to open the exe file it just doesn't open full stop. Sometimes it takes two re-starts before the exe file decides it now wants to open properly! It's driving me mad... anyone else find this? Any solutions?? :)

    ........cant say ive had this problem? have you searched the Microsoft Knowledgebase? They might have an article about your symptoms.

    you have to approve download exe's twice, the first time you have to agree that you trust the file as its a download, xp does this too, then the secod time is the UAC prompt

    you can disable the first check by right clicking on the file clicking on properties and and click unblock down the bottom

    see if that helps and if not try disabling UAC
    1. Launch MSCONFIG by from the Run menu.
    2. Click on the Tools tab. Scroll down till you find "Disable UAC" . Click on that line.
    1. Press the Launch button.
    2. A CMD window will open. When the command is done, you can close the window.
    3. SIZE=2]Close MSCONFIG. You need to reboot the computer for changes to apply.[/SIZE]

    after that check if the installer service is running in service.mcs

    It doesn't ask me anything about approving it. Literally, when I double-click the exe file, the installation box flashes up, then disappears, then flashes up, then disappears. Nothing else happens at all. Then it stops appearing whatsoever when I open it. Thanks for your reply, I'll try it anyway and see what happens.
