Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Assigning a drive letter to external HDD

A mate of mine bought a 500GB WD Elements HDD for his laptop. Any time he connects the drive to his laptop the system gives the HDD a different drive letter. Is there any way he can permanently assign a letter to the drive?

    Cheers!

Right Click on My Computer, then click on Manage, click on Disk Management under the Storage option in the Computer Management window. Find the External HDD on the list of drives, right click and choose Change Drive Letter & Paths, then pick the drive letter of your choosing

    Edit:
Whatever you do though don't f**k about with the drive letter for your operating system/program files etc.

the device should be given a unique serial ID thats embedded in the device itself somehow - so yes.

thats will be handy for running synctoy to a removable drive,as they change letter sometimes, I assumed it was not possibal to manually assign a drive letter

Doesnt matter. Windows wont let you change it without regediting.
