ye do realize that by cycling in france your brakes will be all backwards..... asking for trouble if you ask me. Best off in South Africa, Japan, Oz or Australia where they drive on the same side of the road... much easier :)

Why is there no option for "both October '08 and May '09"?

I am agnostic on the method of getting there but would be keen to get one in this year if possible, before doing Etape/Marmotte next year.

I am thinking of heading over myself in September but this would not preclude me going again in October!

    me want go alps.

i was planning on leaving it till next year but if there's a posse forming for this year i am in like flynn.

i have memories of childhood 'holidays' in france that consisted almost entirely of sitting in the back of a car. so, with that in mind, i reckon it may be more sensible to fly and rent a minivan than to drive. france: it's quite big.

better question: "Who amongst those going has a licence?". I'm out,not least cos I need my holidays for christmas to go away for 2 weeks..

Would be too cold to cycle then, just wouldn't work. October a far better idea.

Are we talking about a license to drive or a license to kill? Cuz I think mine will only let me drive.

To be honest - i am not allowed to go to France if I don't go see my mother, so if you guys head down, I will probably have to make my own way out there and meet you at the bottom of the mountain from Biarritz. (that's also assuming by then I will be better at hills )

Would love to give it a shot sometime but think I have to use my holidays to head over to South Africa.

That's another issue as well. I'm taking two weeks in August and will need another two weeks or so at Christmas, so I don't think I'd be able to take any more holiday this year.

LOL... Indeed I do have a van and it *might* be possible this year but I am still interested in the plan that was discussed on the last spin for next year pending me spending less time on my mountain bike and more on the road bike

I'd be up for it. Driven in France 5 times. Been out of Rosslare most years, good craic.
