Looking at a site to buy a house on, however, it has an esb sub-station on it, which cant be moved. Would you be worried about this, health wise??

First thing you should do is contact the ESB and find out what votage the in/out cables are carrying.

Then you ring a different ESB office and tell them that you intend to build beside lines (dont mention sub station) that carry a certain voltage and ask what is the required distance that your house and/or site should be from that particular line.

    Then you will know.

Sites can't be that scarce, always think about resale when buying. Who would want to buy a house with a sub-station on the site? No offence, but it would make anyone think twice.

I know of one site which still has not sold (4 years after going on sale) because of 38kv lines on steel pylons quite close by.
