Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi All!

I am looking for projector which is cheaper than 400e (of course cheaper = better :D ). I am really lost with all projectors...

I sorted some list of the cheapest projectors (all under 400e):

    http://elara.ie/products/projectors.asp (elara.ie)
    http://tinyurl.com/63zrkw (pixmania.ie)

    My types are following:

    1. Infocus X20v + voucher lamp (how voucher works?) - 318e
    2. Infocus X6 - 375e/322e (elara/pixmania)
    3. Mitsubishi SD206u - 358e
    4. Toshiba TDPSP1 - 338e
    5. Acer X1160 - 376e/306e (elara/pixmania)

    7. Sanyo PDG-DSU20e - 317e
    8. Optoma ES520 - 322w
    9. Optoma DS306 - 339e
    10. Toshiba TDP-S8 - 383e

Which one can You recommend for me? Maybe You know some shop with projectors in Dublin?

Mainly, I am going to watch movies (80%), photos (10%) and games (10%). The first 5 of the list are from elara.ie shop which I preffer (pixmania.ie can be but is 2nd in order)

Should you not be looking at widescreens projectors, esp when it's to watch movies 80% of the time.

Yes, I know. But widescreens PJ are slight too expensive for me. I would stay with the list or some different PJ from elara and pixmania too 400e level (maybe 450e level).

    Some recommendations?

I hope this won't seem unfair, but I wouldn't recommend you buy a data grade projector (i.e. one designed for office use) for watching movies etc. - they are designed to throw a very bright image, are usually 4:3 format and their colour accuracy and contrast levels are not suitable for home cinema use.

If you're not fussy about these things, then fire away, for €400-ish you'll get a wall-filling image.

    Thx for info.

I found some Sanyo PLC-XW55 projector (3xLCD, 1024x768) - is it good choice? (is one of the cheapest with LCD and 1024x786 resolution...) - in pixmania it costs 443e.

    Save your money, I'd say.

The above projectors will generally offer a very poor picture. You may think it's neat to have a wall-sized screen, but if the contrast, brightness, aspect ratio and overall image quality is rubbish, these flaws will only be accentuated by a large screen size.

Add another 4 or 5 hundred on to your budget and you'll be in the range of some fantastic 16:9 home-theatre HD projectors which a movie fan will truly appreciate.

This is the minimum you should consider in my opinion. Not much more than your budget, but it's a proper home cinema projector not a data projector.
