Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Blue Sky road projects

    Ok so the NRA has a list of most of the projects they're planning on their website. Economic conditions and fighting aside, assuming they all get done, what do you think would be future road projects in Ireland that they havent even considered yet?

    Dunkettle isnt on the website so we cant count that :p

    My suggestions based on current building stupidity.

    M6 Athenry to Galway 3 lane upgrade with full/better freeflow M6/17/18 junction.
    M9/M25/N24 junction upgrade in Waterford. (Its idiotic whats being built).
    N/M7 upgrade - 3 lanes to the M7/M9 interchange.

    Any more ideas?

    A Junction to allow you to go from the M9 to the M7 West and from the M7 East to the M9

    The M7/M9 junction should be a full freeflow and should ideally be the southern end of a future Dublin Outer Orbital project .

    It will probably get upgraded to a cloverleaf when the Dublin Outer gets the go ahead in 10 years or so.

    (1) M1 - Dual 3 lane from the Airport (jct 2)(75k PCUs approx) to Gormanston (jct 7)(40K PCUs approx).

    (2) M50 - Dual 3 lane + 2 aux from Carpenterstown (new South Blanchardstown Interchange) to Red Cow (N7). The current upgrade will not be enough IMO. Also, some ultra low speed connectors may need replacement with high level cross-over equivalents which would accommodate moderate speeds. Such a connector would be the M50 South to N4 West. The Westlink will have to be widened to at least 5 lanes each way. To do this, auxiliary decks carrying 2 lanes each would be constructed alongside the existing ones, thereby extending the North facing slips on the N4 interchange across the Liffey Valley. This would allow for Southfacing access at Carpenterstown, though such traffic would not access the M50 directly due to ramp configuration. However, it would allow traffic from South Blanchardstown to access the areas South of the Liffey quite easily (via the N4). The existing 14m bridge decks would revert to 3 lanes plus H/S - an exact fit by current day standards. Widening the M50 from the N4 to N7 should be fairly straight forward, but the bridge across the Grand Canal and R134 would require augmentation similar to the Westlink. Again, the North facing N7 ramps would be elongated as a result. I guess the N7 junction itself would be in for the high life (3/4 levels?).

    (3) Then there is the grade separated (US style) weaving configurations that might be required for the:

    M50 - between N7 and Ballymount;
    N04 - between M50 and Liffey Valley;
    M01 - between M50 and Port Tunnel;
    M01 - between M50 and Airport;

    I have to go now, so I'll think of more!

    Regards!
