Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Eh... where did that come from? If someone disagrees with you, they're entitled to their opinion, just like you're entitled to yours. This thread can do without such comments.

The increase of metrosexuals in Ireland is disgraceful. It has reached the stage were guys are now spending more time doing themselves up before they go out than girls. The amount of guys wearing pink, putting moisturizer on, fine tuning there hair etc and even shaving chests, I was fit to shoot a friend who was shaving his chest before, he was doing it for the ladies. If a girl doesn't like hairy chests see can f**k off and become a lesbian. In summary alot of lads in Ireland need to either grow a pair, get a sex change and become a fully fledge women or head off to San Fran.

*I also realise this post may be terrible politically incorrect but I couldn't give a sh*t

    Absolutely spot on.

Even this attitude of 'oh my missus tells me what to wear, giggle giggle, is pathetic'. Admitting your P***y whipped doesnt make it funny, it makes it sad. And in the end your missus will be riding the first man who tells her to STFU and doing it while laughing at you. Because she wants a real man, not some mammys boy.

Gimme Clint before that poncey David Beckham any day! I really can't imagine girly guys being that great in the sack either...

And as for footballers in general - Christiano Ronaldo is a little girl. Roy Keane all the way (nothing to do with any "Cork" bull****, the man is just hot).

Here's what I find unattractive: chest/leg shaving. If a guy is self conscious about, say, hair on his back though, fair enough.
Guys using sunbeds/fake tan - it's bad enough girls using them! Guys sunbathing doesn't exactly float my boat either.
    Guys using hair straighteners, hairbands
    Excessive grooming in general

To be fair, pink is only a colour. We've been conditioned to believe it's feminine. To me, it's the item of clothing, not the colour that makes the difference. A pink shirt or tie doesn't always look bad.

By all accounts Clint is a mysogonistic ass whose numerous affairs cause the breakup of 2 marriages. Legend!!

We all know that women are attracted to assholes, its why my mates are whipped by the local uglys and I get my jimmy waxed by a different girl each week.

No, that's not what attracts me to the younger Clint - I find that most unattractive. It's the other stuff about him I fancy, and he has admitted he was a sh1t when younger, but has grown up.

What do you mean a "real woman"? I wouldn't even contemplate being in a relationship with a guy who's a prick to women, but if he's hot, hell I'd use him the way he'd use me. But sometimes I have no patience with girls who put up with assholes for boyfriends - they should know better than to go out with them.

chest/leg shaving: Not my thing, though the heat has brought on an influx of growth so I kind of look like a gorilla at this stage

Guys using sunbeds/fake tan: God no, Same goes for women

Guys using hair straighteners, hairbands: I wear a bandana as a hairband sometimes to keep it out of my face at the gym. Granted I have past shoulder length hair :(

Excessive grooming in general: Define further ? I'm genuinely interested :)

I do use a face scrub and cleanser though because of the facial sweat causing my face to break into spots/dry patches (damn heat again).

    Oh god - i'm a failure ...

I cant understand lads who take longer then their OH's to get ready for going out.

20 minutes max, is how long it should take. That should include shower/shave etc.

Add on a bit more if you have to iron your pink shirt though...............:p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 63 ✭✭CheapStuff

Why do you take time to iron your shirt, if you had your house in order you missus would have them all ironed at the start of the week.... this is exactly what I am talking about.

    Shower gell.

    Hair wax.
    Deoderent.
    Aftershave.

    4.

As are Deodorant and aftershave. And who shaves, anyway?
Shower-gel/shampoo will do nothing to shift motor oil, so a jumbo bow of washing powder or floor cleaner is your only bathroom requirement really. Unless you live in an area with no suitable chewable roots and insist on having clean teeth.

Ah obviously I'm not referring to when it's just for practical reasons - and a bandana? Hey, some of the toughest guys in the world wear those! ;) But I have seen guys wearing a hairband around town on a Saturday night. Why?!
Excessive grooming in general: Define further ? I'm genuinely interested :)
Oh, having the hair coiffed to perfection without even a tip of a hair out of place; pristine clothes - hey, jeans and a hoodie can be hot too!
I do use a face scrub and cleanser though because of the facial sweat causing my face to break into spots (damn heat again).

    Oh god - i'm a failure ...
No way - when it's for practical/comfort reasons, it's an entirely different story. I wouldn't blame a guy for using moisturiser simply to keep dry, flaky skin at bay. And if a guy has to give his leg hair a tidy because it's starting to resemble a forest and it's also too damn hot for such discomfort, well I think that can be forgiven...

    Maybe I'm showing my age!

But what's this leg hair tidying all about?

    Do men actually do this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,584 ✭✭✭c - 13

I'd love to see your reaction to most of the Muslim/Arabic guys over here. They must spend hours getting ready.

    Perfectly styled beards
Enough oil in the hair to drown a baby camel
About 3 bottles of aftershave (Strong)
Clothes ironed to paper cut sharpness

I'm after mistaking them for shop mannequins in the malls on more than one occasion :o

    Worse than the Italians :D

If more arabs spent time dating and less timing preaning, they wouldn't be as prone to blowing things up in order quell their man lust.

Well von Neumann/Captain Darling, the options to do so (shaving, waxing) are there. Fair enough if you experience gorilla-like hair growth and you're living in a country with a very hot climate.

Cheapstuff, you're only gonna get banned if you keep posting trollish remarks - if you don't want to get banned, keep your contributions on-topic and not designed in such a way as to rile up other users.

Interesting topic. For me, men wearing various cosmetics etc isn't really an issue. A helluva lot of men throughout history have done. There are tribes around today that spend many hours preening themselves who would kick seven shades of you know what out of most men here in the masculine stakes(not cavemen types either). There are even tribes that will call off a battle if it rains as their warpaint will run. :) which is kinda sweet in fairness. Moisturiser is just the surface. One of the best examples of a real man I know is gay and camper than a row of tents with it.

I would say a man is someone who never stops trying to know himself and how that applies to those he cares about. A man makes mistakes and learns from them. A man protects those people who may need it, without too much concern about how society may view that. A man has a full set of emotions but knows when, where and how much to show them. A man should also be emotionally balanced and consistent. Nothing worse than emotional incontinence in a man IMHO. A man should never say something about someone else he wouldn't be prepared to say to their face should the need arise. A man should have the ability to be quiet. A man should be able to look at the situation and make a decision and stick to that unless new stuff enters the equation. Men should be loyal. Men should do everything they can for those they love, but if that fails they should be able to walk away in good conscience. Mainly men should be responsible for themselves.

I reckon many men now are feminised. At least emotionally. Triple that in their dealings with women they love. The guys I've seen taking serious shít from the women in their lives boggles my mind tbh. I also reckon those women are not to blame to the degree many of those guys believe. most of the time I've found those women are looking for a proper reaction from the guy, IE, queitly and calmly showing by their words and calm actions that this is not acceptable.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

On Saturday night I engaged in the following acts:

    1. I queued to go to the toilet. Wtf?? Since when do men queue?? I really can't remember the last time I stood in line, making small talk whilst bursting for a leak!

    2. I had a cocktail. A mojito, and it was lovely. Then I had a beer, so I feel that one cancelled the other out.

    3. I danced my pants off. Not like a stripper, but more like a man on a mission to create as much sweat in as little time as possible. Whilst dancing, we got another group of lads involved and had a grand aul time - till one of their girlfriends stepped in, called her bo a gay and dragged him away :(

Listening to the radio this morning, they were banging on about how men are forced into being more feminine. I didn't think so until I remembered the above, and then wondered what my aul lad would make of it all.

'That wouldn't have happened in my day' he'd probably say. And it probably wouldn't have. But is it a good thing? Have we progressed or are our manly habits falling to the wayside?

I have seen worse, at the local gym i have seen guys queued up to use not the steam room or spa but the sun bed.

Titantic - DiCaprio only died because he realised it was the only way he would get away from Winslett after one shag..

Most men would fake their death to get away from a woman... not sure about sacrificing for a woman.
