Gotta love sky news, or infact any 24 hours news service, if I watch any of them they do my head in after about 20 minutes because they just spout the same old crap.

Sky seem to be the worst and relentlessly harp on about the same topics, which usualy are

    1. Terrorists (zomg evil durka durka men are gonna get us)
    2. pedos or anything to do with child safety (lock up your kids !)
    3. the royals

and of course a smattering of any other news staple such as the new great depression or global warming.

you are in no way a republican, sure u cant even spell it ! when did anti GFA republicans target civilians?

You're one to call people on spelling. How about checking your own. Perhaps even learn to punctuate properly...

Read Poccingtons post. Actually, read his other posts in this thread too.

Of course you can since the main goal of al-Qaeda is to liberate Saudi Arabia from the presence of U.S. troops. Oops, I just remembered that this is After Hours where inconvenient things like facts are never allowed to get in the way of a good argument.

what planet are you lot living on??

you need to have an enemy, real or imaginary. Without this the plebs would not willingly give up the few rights they had.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,717 ✭✭✭Nehaxak

Well, really now, Al Queda is only a continuation of the Nazi movement - funded I might say by the government of the very people they targetted.

Certain world governments needed a fake war, they got one, Osama Bush is winning either way.

It's 2008, Ireland has moved on and so has the bulk of it's citizens so really, people can fck off with bringing up the past as the debate about it'll just go on forever.
Both sides and everyone else in-between carried out attrocities for their causes/reasons, that fact is plainly clear.

Well it would be like comparing the Irish defence forces with the British army. More or less the same people, same ideals, same type of people, full of british agents, both have worked with loyalist terrorists in the past and both have killed Irish people.

If we're comparing the IRA to Al Queda then it's only fair to compare the Irish defence forces to the UDA/UVF/UFF/British Army

Though of course there is more truth in the "Irish" (lol) defence forces being alligned and working with loyalist terrorists and British agents during the past troubles.

I'd really love to see how you plan on explaining such an argument.

    Ah of course.

I forgot that 1 of the main factors in a liberation movement was the targeting of innocent civilians

Its clearly the evil men in black and not the hysterical masses that are voting in governments that give people what the want (additional "security" )

From where im standing its nothing but politics.

Just read the following story on sky news.I think its just complete rubbish
and no truth in it. Do you agree ?

just want to see what's the general option here.

    Linky
when you think about it what are you more likely to find in Isreal: Islamic terrorists, or the IRA?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,759 ✭✭✭✭dlofnep

As an Irish Republican, I can safely say that they will do more damage than though. It's time for peace on this Island. I will always work for Irish Unity, but I think that an armed campaign pushes both societies apart rather than bring them together. Britain created the divide. We will created the Unity.

Seems like bull at first but you have to remember that after 9/11 & 7/7 Islamic terror makes much better headlines given they attack civillians primarily.

The IRA had hundreds of members, what exactly do you expect guys with no qualifications & lived all their life dedicating themselves to the cause to do nowadays?

Not trying to sound like a provo myself, I'm a complete supporter of the GFA & bloody well glad the RIRA is full of touts

The IRA members in my area anyway got huge payoffs for their service over the years - hence their big houses. Now where did this money come from??

Uh, how is calling someone ignorant a personal insult and worthy of a ban ? Far as I'm concerned he was right.

Looks a lot like a personal insult I reckon.

    Yes, they quite blatantly did.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,717 ✭✭✭Nehaxak

There's an awful lot of ignorant people in here, not just one Englishman. Considering a lot of other comments and insults thrown around toward people in some of these threads, far as I can see it that RSF guy was just singled out by a mod for banning for no reason other than a difference of stated opinion and his perceived "insult" was used as an excuse toward that end.

As much as I don't agree with his points of political view, banning someone for them (or perception as such, far as I can see) is rediculous.

Attack the post not the poster. If I called you a dickhead it would be personal abuse no matter how right someone thought it was. If someone is ignorant then it should shine through in their posts and as such someone can easily pick apart their post and show them how ignorant they are without saying it.

Or use the ignore function, which I've just started to use now and thanks to this thread added a couple of people with ignorant/racist and/or just plain old anti Irish views. Don't see the point in arguing with loyalist terrorist sympathisers or anyone that comes anywhere near close to them, including british agents and their ilk in our own laughing stock of a defence force that's rediculed the world over, all 12 members.

I can't nor won't defend the indefensible of *some* past actions of the IRA but it's stupidly plain to see when the comments are coming mostly from those on the boards here who have expressed anti Irish views in the past and at the same time refused or went completely silent when loyalist terrorists, their supporters in the RUC and British establishment were brought up in regards the attrocites they carried out.

Organised crime /Gaddafi/American donaters. I don't really see why that relates to anything that you've quoted me saying.

See, this is the reason why I use boards so little. The people who own this company are too blinkered to see how badly moderated it is (for the most part).
