The latter. Last season he played really well a number of times and was still getting slated.

On the City forum I use we dug out a thread from about a year ago. Some people were left with very red faces -

Never rated him and laughed when people liken him to Liam Brady.

Championship player , put him in the reserves till summer then get rid.

Been saying he's average at best since I first saw him. Could never understand what all the fuss was about.

Today's performance was just another typical Ireland performance.

I still reckon we could get £6M from Sunderland for him though.

turns out he really is **** after all. never make it as a prem league player.
