    Sorry
We apologise that we cannot offer you a quotation on our Website as you currently fall outside of the underwriting criteria.

I keep getting that when i try for a quote on a standard Nissan 200sx year 2000 valued at 9k, I'm 25, 4 years Ncb, live in Meath, 2 points and full licence for 5 years in october. So far i've tried bestquote.ie, insure.ie and 123.ie as well and none of them will give me a quote. whats goin on?

Quinn do seem to be losing the plot! A few weeks back I was very close to buying one of 2 Audi A3's. Now I was provisional then, and driving a 1.4 Golf, paying €1250 fully comp. When I rang them asking how much more would it cost if I went for a 1.6 FSI A3 (115hp), they said it would go up about 200/250. Then I asked how much would the 2.0 TDI (140hp) cost, and he told me it would be pretty much the same as the 1.6!!? This got me scratching my head!

Then I asked him how much would the difference be if I got insured on the OPs car, a Golf GT 140hp....and he said that they would not insure me on it!! I asked him "Really....that has the same bhp as the 2.0 TDI?" He said yeah but they are just not quoting those now!!?? I giggled and hung up.

On a completely different note then......today I got my full license and I rang Quinn immediately. Now I pay €106 per month and when I told them that I got my full license.....she told me that my next (last) 3 installments will each be reduced by €58!!!! Thats a discount of €174 over the last 3 months!

    Crazy!!!!!!

www.easyquote.ie gave me the best quote. They say they specialise in car and home insurance for over 25's

Yeah, Quinn are really unpredictable. Sometimes they'll bitch about insuring you on a Golf GT 140 and then they'd insure you on a Ferrari if they think they're going to lose you as a customer.

I think they make it up as they go along. I changed car mid-policy to an Opel Tigra twin-top, no hassle there.

When the policy came up for renewal, I shopped around, thought I was getting a much better deal from Tesco, and told Quinn I wouldn't be renewing. However, on closer inspection, Tesco would only insure me if I did that stupid Ignition course that Hibernian run, so I didn't take them up. After a bit more ringing around, it became clear that Quinn were still the best deal. At this stage, my original Quinn policy had expired by one day.

Rang them back, explained the situation and the guy says "No problem, but I'll have to do you a brand new quote". Told him fine, next thing he says "Oh, actually we don't cover convertibles". I was like, eh, but you've been covering me on it for the past 8 months. He said that was because I had changed mid-policy, but because my original policy had expired they had to treat me as a brand new customer, and they don't insure convertibles.

Had a back-and-forth argument with him for about half an hour before asking to speak to a supervisor. He goes "Fine, but they're only going to tell you the same thing". I said I didn't care, I wanted to speak to one anyway. So he puts me on hold for 15 minutes, then comes back on the line and says he spoke to his supervisor and since my policy had only expired by 24 hours, they would "make an exception" and cover my convertible, "But I'll still have to give you a new quote, as your renewal quote is gone out of the system".

They'll hammer me here, I'm thinking, and what happened when he ran the new quote - it was almost a hundred quid cheaper than my renewal quote had been in the first place!!!:D

    Crazy stuff altogether.

Was with Quinn till this year. Was insured from age of 22 to 26 (am now 27) with them firstly on a 1.8 Mazda 626 - no complaints there and the premium was not an absolute shaft. Started about 2k and went down to 900 at the end. Then last year bought a 1.4 Golf, transferred the insurance for the remainder of the period.

Renewal was up there in May, Quinn quoted 780 with zero no claims protection or windscreen cover. Shopped around and Hibernian offerred fully comp (comp on named driver too), no claims protection and windscreen for 720. Phoned Quinn asked if they wanted to match the Hibernian offer was told they dont match prices so said fine thanks for all the fish and am now a happy Hibernian customer.

Dont get me wrong I was grateful that they insured me starting out on a large engine when i first looked for cover but they were really extracting the urine with the renewal quote they gave me on the golf and their attitude towards a solid long term customer was very poor. Quinn turned away a 5 year official no claims (I've been driving since I was 18 as a named driver with no accidents before i got my own policy) on a low powered standard car and have no penalty points.

Just as a comparison when we were looking for a new car I also looked at a Leon Cupra and they quoted 800-900 fully comp. That had 180 bhp I think - cant really remember. Really compares to a 1.4 Golf Comfortline

    GIFT!

Was going to go with insure.ie at €380 for a Mondeo 1.6, TP F&T, under my Dad's name (I'm a brand new, 26 year old driver on learner permit). 25Plus quoted me €340 with COMP (which i admitedly dont need for an €800 car) and, more importantly, FULL NCB protection! Amazing.
Will be spreading the good word.

Also, i work in Quinn. I couldn't even get a quote under my dad for the same car. Would love to tell you all how it works but frankly, i haven't a clue either (they're all done in Enniskillen or Cavan)

I've had the cage witht them for donkeys years and when I got a bike they told me FO. Quinn used to be a responsive company but the accountants have taken over now so customer satisfaction has dropped around their ankles IMO

    More pretenders.

26, 7 years NCB, full license for 7 years, no points/ convictions.... I "fall outside their underwriting criteria".

Oh Mary Harney, come and save us again.....
