Water Pump Going Off Every 30 mins

    Hello All,

Would like some honest advice. We've got a pump so that we could have power showers. However the pump goes off every 30 mins (which indicated a leak). I've had a guy out with a heat sensor to check the pipes and the plumber has been back 3 times and tells me there is no issue.

Can you recommend anyone that could come to my house, do a fully check and find out where the problem lies. I wouldn't have thought this was a difficult thing to do for a specialist but so far we've had no luck.

    Advice welcome!!

    Regards

Do any of the showers spray water when the pump comes on?

    Hello,
Thanks for the reply. There is no shower leaks. We did have one issue with one toilet but that has been fixed. Do you have any ideas as to why the pump gets triggered. It is normally a leak somewhere? The plumber has twice 'tested' the house but since he put in the plumbing he's hardly going to admit he put it in incorrectly.
I guess the question is how often should the pump trigger?

I guess you mean that the pump comes ON every 30 minutes, presumably for a very short time.

If there is no water leaking, perhaps the non-return valve (aka one-way valve) at the pump is passing.

Is there an isolating valve just after the pump (and pressure switch if separate) that you can close? If, with this valve closed and no leaks at the pump itself, the pump still comes on, the water pressure must be bleeding back through the pump.

Reason I found that the pump triggered was a faulty mixer valve (mixer taps) on the shower itself. When the pressure built up sufficiently the mixer valve in the shower released a spray of water, which came through the shower head (thus no evidence of a leak in the system) and this in turn released the pressure, shut off the valve (mixer taps) and the pump shut off, all in about 4 seconds.

This is what happened to me, it may not be the same for you.

Thanks for the replies so far.
I would like to know how I can isolate if this is a leak with the Radiators or from the Shower/Toilet. Is there any way to shut of the water to the toilets and see if the pump goes off or vice versa. That way I know if it's the heaters or the toilet.
