    Hey,

I put a crack in my intercooler while reversing off a curb. Front left wheel went down into a shore and I cracked the bottom of the intercooler off the curb. its €300 new in a VW dealer.
Does anyone know where I can get a new one cheaper?

I'd prefer to order a new one rather than going to a breakers yard.

    Thanks.

has anyone ever changed the intercooler? Is it a big job? Does the bumper have to come off to get at it?

Is it a petrol or diesel?

    diesel

Never changed the intercooler on a diesel but I would say the bumper has too come off.

I've had the bumper off a golf and it looked a pretty easy job to do. Just bolts and springclips

I'd say that the hardest part is putting the bumper back, you'll need two people for this bit.

    huh, site said they did.
micksgarage.ie look like they have them. Doesn't look much cheaper than the main dealers though.

Em I dont know if this is any good to you but theses guys aren't far from me. I dont know if you want one secondhand but it might be worth a shot. Its a TDI even though one of the pics is the instrument cluster from a petrol. Although maybe this is a revolutionary TDI that revs to 7000 RPM :D:P

Anyway as regards doing it yourself have a look at the site below. The guys on there might be of some help:

    http://www.ukpassats.co.uk

    or

    www.passatworld.com/forums/

Anyway enjoy your ownership of that Passat.

    thanks guys.

I've found a german site that sells them new for €143.50
The nice lady is just trying to figure out how much delivery will cost. She thinks €15 or €30.

the site is here http://shop.gts-handel.com/epages/61185900.sf but not much use if you can't read a little bit of german.
