I am wondering does anyone know why my VW Golf is eating rear tyres. I drive a 2000 1.9 SDI and it is currently eating tyres like there is no tomorrow.

The camber of the rear tyres is visibly wrong and they are lying in at the top quite severly. If someone could shed some light on this it would be much appreciated.

My old golf did this and it was the rear shocks that needed changing. Also the whole axle pivots on two bushings (under the front of the wheelarch) that may be worn. The shocks cost 200euro to change from my mechanic. Mine didn't need the bushings changed but he said its about a 300euro job. Thats from an independant mechanic.

It sounds like the bushings mentioned above are shot.
