    Hi,
Just wanted to get the opinion from you all -

I have admission from UCD (Smurfit) Quantitative Finance Course and also from Manchester Business School - Quantitative Finance & Financial Engineering course.

if any one has ever researched this - can you please suggest which school/course you would have joined if you were in my place.

    I am non Irish/Non EU -

my research says that course in UCD is well established with great track record of placing students with leading banks, however the course in Manchester was started in 2005, so it is relatively new. Manchester Business School on the other hand is well regarded in UK and looks like it has good connections with banks/funds in UK.

    waiting for your opinion

Quantitative Finance in Smurfit isn't what it used to be...

The current economic climate means that they have to accept more students. The entry standards are lower and students have less lecture hours. They had a high drop out rate last year.

I know people who had done the course a few years ago and they all got really good jobs straight out of it. One guy got a house, car and 250k a year for some firm in america. Another was able to afford a porcshe the year after he finished. But I was talking to someone who was doing the course last year at christmas and he was saying that he was worried because no one in the class had a job... he ended up dropping out...

I don't know anything about manchester...

The only about Smurfit (in its defence) is that it is recognised and will probably get you interviews... but i don't think its worth the money...

Realised this post is 3 years old after replying...

Thanks a lot for the information. I am getting similar kind of responses for other coleeges except top 5 or 10.But based on this information i will try to make best decision i guess.

If they get me interviews then it is quite good because then it depends on you.I am not dreaming that on first Job i will get 250K and car and house but a nice job will do and will see after that.

Are there nice jobs in finance side in Ireland,if jobs are not there then it might be difficult but otherwise i might have a chance.

I am a non EU so just want to know if companies from UK and EU considers the candidate from non EU studing in ireland?

By the way, thanks for the information once again.
