    where to start....

When my housemates don't clean up after them.

When my housemates try to blame the mess on me.

When builders start work at 6am outside your room and insist on shouting and whisteling

When everyone here in Germany HAS to shake your hand EVERY FREEKING MORNING.

Those stupid ringtone ads on the TV

When knackers (the turks here in germany) insist on playing stupid disco music off their loud-speaker on their phone on the metro as loud as possible. EARPHONES YOU DAMN RETARDS

Always having to buy metro tickets

police checking to see your metro ticket when your not arsed buying one, and not checking when youve went and bought one.....grrrr

When people force me to speak German...( i know its germany, but still like!)

when the internet goes down...have to resort to ancient porn files hidden away in some arbitrary folder on my laptop.

the way the "z" and "y" are the wrong way around on german kezboards... DAMMIT

spelling (looks over shoulder before typing next word).... nazis!

falling asleep on the metro....oh god, ending up on the end of the track... bothersome

people who argue in favor of macs (fags....:p)

people who dont know what to do when they see a cyclist on the road. im in germnay for feck sake, and going home yesterday, I was nearly knocked down 4 times! I'M BRITTLE DAMMIT

    i feel better now... :)

Why didn't you just say that?

Anyway your point/argument hasn't much weight. The reality is that fast food is causing major problems in this country which the taxpayer is going to end up forking out for. It's right that these business' should take some of the responsibility. I don't think campaigners are trying to shut down the fast food industry completely...just make them take some responsibility for the mess there making.

In particular these companies target kids which are not able to make informed decisions. Alot of adults don't know the difference between a calorie and a carbohydrate.

The laws of nature wouldn't allow it if it wasn't natural??? Do you read alot of strange books?

Isn't that the point of this thread, to have a pointless rant?

If a virus infects a carrot and genetically modifies it whats the difference between that and us genetically modifing a carrot? Because we made a concious desicion makes it unnatural?

Ah well it didn't look like that. Most rants I've read here seem to be real problems they encounter day to day.

I really think myself that alot of things man does goes against nature and damages it though. More often related to monetary gain.

Our vanity and lust for material goods is a result of our intelligence which was 'given' to us by evolution so everything we do with it is as a result of nature, in my opinion anyway. Doesn't mean I agree with everything we do though.

Eating noises, I'll make excuses and leave the room if there's a noisy eater there, because I'm quite liable to flip the flip out at them.

People waking me up, no matter what time it is or how important it is that I be awake, I get annoyed when people do it. I've kicked a good friend in the face for trying to get me to get up :)

People who come into the cafe where I work and ask me questions like "What kind of soup do ye have?" or "I want something savoury, what do ye have?" etc when I'm clearly busy, and WHEN I'M OBVIOUSLY JUST ABOUT TO HAND THEM A MENU

    Lots of things :)

    But in particular -
    • People who are unhappy about themselves/their life but won't do anything about it, e.g. obese people
    • People in their 30's and above who are still into the drug scene
    • Stupid people (sorry)
    • People with chips on their shoulders, e.g. reverse snobbery
    • People who are terrible at their jobs but earn lots of money

Recreational users. They always seem to be running from their problems. It kind of ties in with:
People who are unhappy about themselves/their life but won't do anything about it, e.g. obese people

    Bus Drivers.
    Taxi Drivers.
    Bouncers.
    Scum bags.
    People talking during a film.
Dumbing down of everything from higher education to computer games.
Getting excluded because you don't smoke.
    Adds for charities on television.

To reiterate a few others: seen it instead of saw it, euros, people not handing you your change.

    Calling it "euros" is correct.

When the euro was introduced it was announced that it must be called the "euro". People understood this in the most extreme way possible.

What they actually meant was "you can't call it the pound or frank" rather than "you're not allowed pluralise it".

For what it's worth there's alot of undiagnosed mental illness in this country. People think the problem is with them (hence low self esteem) whereas they may just have a chemical imbalance etc. ADHD in adults can often come across as a stupid person or a person with the inability to listen. In reality there usually highly intelligent and have many more gifts than the average person has. Einstein for example had ADHD.

In the states it is estimated 10 million people have ADHD but only something like 2 million have been diagnosed. People can spend all their lives blaming themselves for not being normal. When they get the right meds there lives can change completely.

Alot of people with emotional problems (may be due to childhood) cannot live normal lives and come across to other people in different ways. Alot of these people have more will than you can imagine but keep getting knocked down due to the baggage they carry around with them. It can be a vicious circle even though the answers to all their problems may seem obvious in your eyes...you haven't walked in their shoes.

But yeah theres still loads of genuinely stupid people around.

I don't blame my problems on a chemical imbalance or a catchy phrase invented to sell me pharmaceuticals.

I don't blame other people, lack of opportunitues or bad genetics. I take responsibility for my life.

Thanks for calling me stupid. Very mature.

Oh and how mature is to laugh at a post about mental illness. Would you start laughing aswell if it was about cancer or some other terminal illness?

Yeah yeah.... well good for you...you are obviously ultra healthy and able to cope with everyday life. (and obviously have no idea about what it's like to live with a mental illness).

Whether you think there's a pharmaceutical industry conspiracy or not Dr. Aarrrgh there's millions everyday that need to take medication to live a normal life that you take for granted.

Are you 8 years old or something?

I was laughing at your moronic suggestion that most people's problems are due to a chemical imbalance and that these people are extremely intelligent.

    Two words: COP OUT.

I'm in no way perfect, but I take responsiblity for my life. I don't go looking for someone or something to blame!

Let's just leave our little argument at that. We're not going to agree.

Ok but only down to ignorance on your part. Bye now.

No ignorance here. I'm well aware there are rare cases of chemical depression, but you seem to think that the majority of problems come down to chemical depression. That's just utter nonsense, ignorance and laziness.

People who blame other people and other things for their problems will never be happy.

Positive thinking can only do so much. Now I suggest you leave this unless you have experienced anything like this yourself and/or used a counsellor or medication.

Otherwise I suggest you come back with facts contrary to common medical practice from all over the world.

IMO you should not really be commenting so strongly and laughing at something you really know very little about.

I'm not talking about positive thinking. WTF.

    This is nuts.

I'm talking about solving the problems in your life, for example -

    Losing weight
    Getting counselling
    Leaving the job you hate
Fixing your relationship with your parents
Getting rid of your drink/drug problem
    Leaving an unhappy relationship

AND, then adding positive things -

    Loving relationship
    Close family
    Good job or business
    Exercise
    Taking care of yourself

    ETC.
Otherwise I suggest you come back with facts contrary to common medical practice from all over the world.

You're changing what you're saying now.

If you're sayng there are some people with a chemical imbalance, but they are severely in the minority, and they may never be happy without drugs, then no problem, we agree. Extreme minority though. Most people are not unhappy due to chemical reasons.

All the above is extremely difficult with major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, ADHD etc. These conditions can severely disable you.

Many people with mental illness can't do all the things you have listed no matter how hard they try.

It sounds to me like you achieved all the above (or acheived similiar things) and don't really value that what you have achieved can be extremely difficult. You think that anyone should be able to do it if you did it. Maybe you have problems finding the value in the things you do yourself....which would point to self esteem issue?? Minute maybe but there's definitely something going on there. :)

My original post was simply to say that not all people perceived as stupid are stupid - theres alot of mental illness out there.

I'd agree most people are not happy due to medical reasons but what were arguing here (I thought) was the fact that you don't see mental illness as serious....
