Public CCTV cameras

Just following on from the Galway Violence thread. Do these cameras actually record anything or work? Has anyone hear of a case where these public cameras were cited? There is one just opposite Sally Longs where an incident occured and one above Monroes where another assault took place.

Rumour has it that these are private cameras erected (:p) by some lurkers on these boards.... What they use them for who knows... :eek:
