Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Insuring a 16yr old?.

Ok, well I've had a Vespa PX200 lying up for the last three year's and being a little bored this morning I put a drop of petrol in it and fired her up.

Started on the first kick too :D

So I've just spent the last few hours T-cutting the panels and some other cosmetic work and she's looking fantastic.

So here's the Q.. Before I go ringing around the companies, can my 16yr old son get insurance on this?.

If so, is there any rider training course's which would benefit him and his insurance?.

If the bike is bigger than 125cc, your son can't legally drive it until he's 18, as he can only get an A1 learner permit at age 16, which covers bikes up to 125cc.

Actually I've just been qouted by Quinn @ €2137 so I guess the bike is for sale now!.

Pity, I've no use for it & without doubt its been the best bike I've owned in so far as usabilty, commuting. Brilliant fun bike.

Seeing as your son can't legally drive the bike, till he's 18, I'd get back onto Quinn and ask why they are quoting you for it. They may get some young person to pay that and then if they have any issues they find out they have no insurance due to not having a licence for the type of bike.
