Introducing a pup to an older dog

Just got a pup today and I'm just wondering how long or what is the best way to get the older dog to become more accustomed to him. Obviously I'm not giving the older dog the cold shoulder and both have been played with together in the garden etc. Is there any other hints that would make him feel more welcoming.

Depends on your dog really our old guy at home could be surrounded by a hundred kittens or puppies chewing on his ears and all he'd do is put on his "why me?" face.
