Dawie de Villiers of Glenwood Motors in SA is who you wanna speak too. Before you know it, you will have a 425bhp 3.8l v6 GTV ;)
Built by none other than Dawie de Villiers of Glenwood Motors in Pretoria, South Africa....

    Contents;

3.2 V6 GTA engine with 3.8 big bore kit, comprising 12:1 Ross forged pistons and Pauter conrods.
    - 304 degree cams
    - Solid lifters
    - Twin vernier pulleys
    - Bigger valves with 3 angle seats and spiralling
    - Cylinder heads ported and gas flowed
    - All rotating parts balanced
    - Individual throttle bodies with bigger injectors
    - Two custom plenum chambers (see your picture)
    - Gotech engine management
    - Powerbrake custom billet aluminium calipers with 330mm grooved and drilled discs and race pads
    - Eibach springs and Koni Sport shocks
    - Front and rear seats removed
    - OMP kevlar seats in red
    - OMP race, suede flat bottom steering
    - OMP 4 point quick release harness
    - 17" black wheels with Bridgestone semi slicks
    - OMP strutbrace
    - Zender front and rear bumper (rear bumper modified to suit sedan)
    - 156 Ti sideskirts
    - 156 GTA smoked headlights
    - Grille shield made black

Here's a quote from the owner on the South African Alfissimo forum....

"What makes this project very challenging, is that we opted to go with a set of individual throttle bodies. With this setup, you can't make the throttle potentiometer (fly by wire) work with the throttle bodies. Dawie had to design and build a pedal box with two accelerator cables (one for each bank of the V6). This proved to be a big job because you have to remove the dashboard to fit the pedal box. On my brother's GTV, we are running with Alfa's Q2 Limited Slip Diff which has a 70:30 split. With 440BHP in the 156, we couldn't run with a Q2, it would simply be too much power for this LSD. Dawie has fitted a race Gemini LSD which has a 50:50 split."

Oops guys did i say 425... it's actually 440BHP... with no supercharger or turbo......... Dawie is a tuning god. Absolute genius..

    I rest my case...

    +1
I have used them too. Although it was the wrong part, I got a full refund, no bother.
They are generally quite good afik.

it depends on the actual seller you go with - the parts gateway is really only a spammer who will inform breakers yards of what your after - and they will bid.

guys I dealt with were super though - part took about 22hrs to make it over - thats 20 days 2 hrs faster and €250 less than frank keane would have needed !

Have you a proper history to show the mileage since the timing belt was done is genuine? Was it yoo who had it done at alfa or the previous owner? I would be kicking up a fuss if a belt went at 16000 miles. If it was the last owner who had it done, things might not be so clear though.
Did they do all pulleys and tensioners that they should have done?

+1 I think you would have a cause for complaint if the belt was replaced by an Alfa dealer.

    Not your ornery onager

Hi guy's, I'm in the market for a 2.olt GTV engine also. I had my '96 fully serviced by my local garage (belt's, tensioners, variators, temp sensors...) EVERYTHING only to have it explode at moderate rev's after less than 200 easy miles
Now to add insult to injury the garage has gone out of business leaving me on here looking for an engine.... Any ideas ??

Mate of mine had a Spyder engine removed, rebuilt totally and reinstalled for reasonable money in Cork. I think he's happy with the result. PM me if you want the name.
