    hello,

first time posting, so be gentle. I was hoping for a little advice on motor insurance. I'm 29, male, full drivers license for roughly 7 years. I haven't been insured for around 4 years, no need to go into the context but i was disqaulified for a year and recieved an endorsment in 2004 for an offence which occured in 2002 or 2003 (i'm double checking that) didnt fight it, it'd be a little hypocritical so i took what was coming to me. haven't needed a car since that either. the endorsment has long expired and i recieved a nice clean license last year.

I was just looking for some general advice for the best deal as i've moved location and a car would make sense now, it will be something small, 1ltr, third party etc. Would a broker be the best bet given the history? and could anyone recomend one?

I see that the websites want 5 years clean before they can qoute and i take it thats the actual conviction date and not the offence, would i be right? I apreciate any advice on this.

    thank you.

Try St Pauls, they specialise in higher risk (which your disqualification
    will mean you fall into)

The websites are there to deal with run of the mill enquiries - anything unusual and they generally say call for quote.

If I were you, I'd contact a broker, they'll do all the ringing around for you. AA insurance might be a good place to start, don't limit yourself to one though.

Look at http://www.xsdirect.ie if all else fails.

also - i think wrightway insurance have a special policy for that. i got a very good quote from them through www.easyquote.ie. or ask your broker does he have an agency with them. dont just rely on filling out forms on the internet - ring them if you have a conviction.
