    Hi,

I have come up with an idea for an irish internet site. The site offers a service which is currently not utilised in this country. The thing is that i am very unsure of how to go about starting this up. Can anyone help with steps i would need to take in order to set up this site.

I think you need to elaborate on that a bit more in order to get some advice... Is it the technical side or the business side of things you are wondering about?

If you consider it to be a high potential (money making) project, document your idea and go to your local Enterprise Board or Enterprise Ireland.

They are pretty savvy and will tell you if your idea is good or not and you may be able to get funding for a feasibility study.

    Good luck :)

I have a lot of experience in business and a lot of experience in web design and development, if this service is not utilised in this country the first thing I want to know is why?

If interested and I thought this was a viable idea with potential we could combine resources. Any kind of professional website is going to cost money and if it needs specialist coding that's going to cost a lot more, But if I thought it was viable I’d be willing to invest my time. If interested you can pm me and we can discuss more.

Just a friendly word of advice. Don't say a dickie bird to anyone about your idea without first getting them to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Good luck with it !

I would be similarly interested in your skillset, I am at a similar stage, already visited cebs etc., and am looking at setting up a shop next year, but feel the web is really where it should be located, so would be interested in hearing.

I think the main reason why is because we are behind in these things. The mindset of Joe Public is only coming around recently to buying online...

Completely. And still most people won't buy online. Huge fear around it still.

There was an article in the evening herald freesheet (Metro?), last week about this, apparently the fastest growing industry in Ireland at the moment is the online retail sales industry...
