Im talking about the likes of Chris Angel who's methods have now been well exposed. Not just CGI but digital trickery and editing in general.

As CGI gets cheaper and is within the budgets of most TV shows will the magic we see on our screens actually be happening physically at all?

Camera tricks have been around since the dawn of television. And yet its been very rarely used in TV magic. So improving/cheaper CGI shoudn't be a problem.

But tbh, Criss Angel is pretty much debasing the art in that respect. His stuff is so amateurish, and done so badly, that anyone with half a brain can see that 90% of it is done with camera tricks and stooges. That's the problem - Johnny Average catches Criss Angel acomplish his effects using crude camera tricks, so he assumes they're all doing it.

Yeah, its possible that the art of accomplishing stuff by ingenius methods will be lost to a degree because of hacks like Angel.
