Hope this thread is ok mods.

Just wanted to recommend a place to get them done.

We spent a whole day yesterday trying to get passport photos done for our 19 month old.

She wouldnt sit still,tantrums--just went mad everytime the camera was pointed at her.

After visiting 12 different places yesterday we went into the camera shop on the lower floor of Blanch shopping centre. They took the pic while she was sitting in the buggy--put a white sheet behind her and just waited till they got it right--it did take about 20 attempts but the bloke had the patience of a saint.
Little bit more expensive than other place at 20 euros but well worth it if your little one is similar to ours and acts up in situations that shes not comfortable with.

Most places that take these photos don't seem to be aware of how strict the Passport Office are about the photographs. You really need to get the child 'full face' into the picture, with very little background visible.

I had a terrible ordeal getting mine done for our 20 mth old too. The passport office are so fussy now its unreal, they rejected 2 photos and I eventually got them done in a chemist in town, and same as OP the girl was so patient as we had 'numerous' attempts to get the perfect pic..

On another note, my boss had murder in the passport office on thursday as 3 pictures he submitted were rejected and he went off on one shouting 'Jesus, what is it with you people and your f*cking photos'.. He eventually got another picture done in a place in town (recommended by the passport office) and he looks like something from the Gestapo, like a really scary photo it was accepted!!

Apparently your not allowed smile in them:rolleyes:

my local chemist was the great - they had a digital camera so they didn't mind having to take the photo loads of times - they also had a stool i could sit on and support my daughter

If you have a digital camera then you could take your own.

Most pharmacies and photo places will print a photo at passport size.

I think it cost about 80c last time.

A helpful hint if taking your own photos of baby is to lie baby on the ground and take the picture looking directly down. For some reason, you automatically think baby has to be sitting when taking the picture and we all know how hard that can be... no need for mummy or daddy's supporting arm to feature either!

Doesn't the passport form have a transparent guide which you can use to determine if a picture is acceptable or not? The only way we could get a photo which had the face between the right lines was to take it ourselves.

There is a place around the corner from the passport office that was great. I was getting DS done at 8 days old and it was a nightmare trying to get him to open his eyes but they were great.

The is an internet cafe on Burgh Quay next to the GNIB office that seems to specialise in this.
