Actress Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with breast cancer

Her publicist, Ame Van Iden, released a statement late Saturday night:

“Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening.”
“Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery. No further statement will be issued at this time.”

The actress, widely known for her role as Kelly Bundy on the popular 80’s and 90’s Fox TV series, Married With Children, made her return to television last fall on the ABC hit comedy, Samantha Who? She was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Emmy for her role as Samantha, who wakes from a coma after eight days and has amnesia.
Applegate’s mother, Nancy Lee Priddy, was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time when Christina was around 7 years old. Her mother had a mastectomy and underwent reconstructive surgery.
Applegate will appear on the September 5th telethon, Stand Up to Cancer, which will raise funds for cancer awareness. The event will be broadcast simultaneously on the three major networks - CBS, ABC and NBC.

Christina Applegate's boyfriend of 2 years, Lee Grivas, was found dead in his apartment on July 1st. The National Enquirer reports that the 26-year-old died from an apparent heroin overdose. An official cause of death has not been issued, of course.
A source said that Christina is "absolutely devastated over the sudden loss." I'm sure that's an understatement.
TMZ confirms the death and claims a neighbor found him.
The two met in 2006 while Christina was doing "Sweet Charity" on Broadway and still married to Johnathon Schaech. Christina and Lee broke up several times, because of his drug problems and she "couldn't stand by and watch him ruin his life." Lee was a fisherman, photographer and skateboarder.

Actress Christina Applegate has had both of her breasts removed after
being diagnosed with breast cancer, the TV star told Good Morning
America today.

Applegate said she was "100% clear and clean" following the procedure.

"It did not spread. They got everything out, so I'm definitely not
going to die from breast cancer," she added.

'Applegate, best known as Kelly Bundy in sitcom Married With Children,
opted to have surgery after testing positive for the BRCA1 breast
cancer gene.

Applegate said she used humour to deal with her diagnosis

Applegate was diagnosed with cancer in one breast last month after a
doctor-ordered MRI scan.

She had the surgery three weeks ago, she told reporter Robin Roberts,
and will have reconstructive surgery over the coming months.

"I'm going to have the best boobs in the nursing home," she joked.
"I'm going to be the envy of all the ladies around the bridge table."
Applegate is scheduled to appear on a one-hour TV special, called
Stand Up to Cancer, to be aired on ABC, CBS and NBC on 5 September to
raise funds for cancer research.

She seems to be in good spirits
