I used to have a DMR rifle almost identical to that, bar the fact that mine was free floating as opposed to the delta ring thingy going on. second last one on the right.

Slightly off thread, but can I just ask, do you find a free floating is better, or is it just down to looks.

And now its mine . Although it has an M16 solid stock on it (which I prefer). It's one of my favourite guns.

yeah no i meant the 416's or 417's not sure which ones they are, I'd say both HK 416's and one long and one short :P

Sent in from an anonymous source is a reply from the USA’s ATF in relation to a query regarding the classification of the JG M4 airsoft rifle (a copy of the Western Arms M4 GBB design).

In short the reply from the ATF states that they consider the WA/JG M4 GBB a firearm because they state that they can fit the airsoft lower receiver to a complete real M4/16 firearm, do some dremel work on the airsoft lower receiver and then fire rounds through the now jury-rigged real M4.

IIRC, under US law, the "essence" of a firearm is the lower reciever, ie. the part that has the serial number stamped into it. In any case, a lower reciever counts as a firearm on it's own and therefore requires a license. The second-last paragraph of the AFT's decision makes this clear.

Ridiculous or not, this is likely to do severe damage to the GBB market unless someone in the ATF sees sense. Although it doesn't affect us directly (our definition is different), if manufacturers can't sell GBBs in the US, they probably won't bother.

You're correct, it is the lower receiver that they license. As for seeing sense ... this is the same ATF responsible for the Ruby Ridge, Waco and other debacles?

I sincerely hope that the Panerai in the second photo is a fake. Anyone who'd wear a three and a half grand watch out airsofting should be shot.
I reckon it's about as real as the fake arm though

I always laugh at all those gps gizmos on some of those. A watch commonly found on the arm of some suit is rarely going to find use as an emergency gps location device - not unless it's needed to call for an ambo after a few too many pies
It's gas how a watch designed for Italian naval warfare (panerai) now ends up as a high end bit of bonus-ware.

Whats' the deal with the fire selector on the M14, I'm not familiar with them at all but it looks like he was adjusting a screw to go full auto and back.

Thats basically how they work, its a t shaped screw that rotates about 180degrees (la bit less on the real one) to switch between modes,
