It needs special UV reactive bb's to operate. Basically it's a strobe in a silencer housing. As the bb's pass through the silencer, the strobe flashes and "charges" the bb with light (in the same way leaving a glow-in-the-dark sticker under a lamp would). The flash only lasts for milliseconds but it's enough to charge each round that pass through it.

The main problem with tracer usage in this country isn't getting the tracer units themselves, it's getting the ammo to go with them. Not many places stock them.

    Ahh right I get you,

would the ammo not be a fair bit more expensive as well ?

True that, begadi, ehobby and WGC stock them at the moment, but ive been making use of these for the last little while

Well in theory you're only meant to mix a few in with your usual ammo.

They are expensive, but, as said above, you're not really supposed to empty an entire tub of them into your magazines (although there's nothing to stop you doing so if you want).
The last time I used a tracer, I found having two speedloaders, one with tracer rounds, the other with regular, meant I could get a nice mix going in my mid caps. Half a squeeze of the tracers to every full squeeze of the regulars.

Remember, tracers go both ways, so sparse use is key.

Fair enough it looks crap there, but it'll be interesting to see the real finish they put on it

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,758 ✭✭✭Stercus Accidit

A guy on Arnies built a once off one of those ^

The finish is black afaik, but I'd say ebaybanned will do a tan model too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

For $66 I'd give it a go, if for no other reason than it being something odd to add to the collection.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,216 ✭✭✭Ayrtonf7

Whats so special about the TMC t ?

bit of news posted over at arnies, looking forward to a gbb akm/akms
GHK is to revive their (much troubled)AK GBB(1st generation being 5.45mm series) series, this time around in the guise of 7.62x39mm AKM, as stated in arms-cool's forum, the author has only the permission to show the 7.62 steel mag but not the AKM rifle itself, the author however said GHK promised to solve the problems of the previous generation and also improve on the realism's department, like a full length guide rod.

They are class, it feels like you are shooting a laser gun, but from the front it looks like there is a strobe light attached to your aeg, it's like painting a target on yourself.
