Has any company attempted a GBB LMG yet? Or is that still far off?
There is that infamous .50cal M2 firing 8mm bbs with a CO2 tank hose connection. Lemming likes to post it up now and again.:)

The Xfire M2 .50 cal? That's a relative new-comer to the world of MG gas blowback madness. There has been a drop-in kit made by Escort for years now for m60s; although recommended donors were Inokatsu given they were pretty much the only bodies physically able to take the recoil without shaking themselves to pieces. I could post you videos of these things on tripods, literally bouncing across the floor by themselves.

The escort kits are gold-dust these days sadly since I believe the company went tits up a year or two back. There have also been quite a few home-brew GBB M2's made over the years, some of which have been well documented on arnies.

paintball? don't get me wrong it's an alrigth sport but I would have thought using AEG's is more beneficial and those paintball's have a weird flight path once they leave the barrel compared to BB's but hey what ever floats your boat i suppose

seen it on an episode of surviving the cut during a night op insersion ,instructors were able to call various body hits using paintballs good practical for medics , its beats airsoft in that instance , better than some GI's shouting take your hits in a training op

The military don't use the same paintball guns and paintballs as we know them. I think their equipment are called Real Action Markers, they are replica firearms and look like real guns, unlike the terrible looking paintball guns.

As for the ammo, I just recently watched video footage of a CQB site across the pond that only opens once a month. This is because it is the US navy force protection training facility, where SEALs are trained pretty much everyday except for one day in a month.
The video shows a military paintball marker round casing which is a 9mm round with wax coated tip which contains the paint. The round looks like a real bullet apart from the tip and leaves behind a bullet casing. I assume they have a similar 5.56mm round for training assault rifle replicas. I've attached a link to the video.

those are simunitions, fired from real assault rifles, smgs, pistols, not 'real action markers' the crappy paintball experiment. They have blue outer barrels and mags for the training to designate non live.

That video shows nothing of the players, game style, or much else... just a shakey camera. Hardly something i'd base my thoughts of a group on. From what I saw, it was a tactical gaggle****.

Didn't even know they were making one, it's not on their site. They haven't even released their SG55x mid caps yet and they are on the site. I'd like them to make an upper receiver for the 551/552 with a built in low profile rail that will run in line with the RIS handguards, like what the G&G SG553 has with the flip up irons. There is a step in between the standard rail with the the RIS installed.

Looking everwhere to get the ICS mids after getting hold of a 551 last week. The TM and G&G short mags will do me for the time being.

  • Registered Users Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

the ics 551 mids are only 50rnd mags looking 2 boxes myself .and the new rail system to match

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,152 ✭✭✭Inari

I have the MAG mids feeding for the ICS 551, by the way...just needs a bit (read; lot) of filing

    Link

NOTE: Not news, but it seemed on topic. Apologies for off topic post

The 552 rail system is out there, saw it on a UK (zeroone) or French (speedgames) site. Managed to get myself the cheek rest and top rail from speedgames.com during the week, very quick coming from France in 2 days with standard shipping, the only other place I saw them in stock was a US site that would not ship outside the US for any item.

Then I went and found them fire support the other day and ordered another set for when I get a 552. Wish I spotted them there earlier before having to go through the registering process on a few US and then a French site to get them.

I don't know how successfully those mags can be downgraded to our limits though.

Yep should be nice alright. They said they planned to release a M1 Garand and are thinking about a Lee Enfield.

    That would be Simunition.

They do also use standard paintball ammunition for many scenarios, it's a lot cheaper. The Tippmann Alpha Black marker looks exactly like an M4 with a fat barrel.

    SOD to Offer PenCott Camo
Italy-based Special Operation Division (SOD) has announced that they will be offering Hyde Definition’s PenCott family of camouflage patterns.

    More at Soldier Systems.

I'm not wild about the central Velcro strip on the shirt & smock; an epaulette for rank slides would be a more flexible solution. You can always stitch some loop fabric to the back of a slide if you need to, and it saves buying special rank patches. However, SOD are highly regarded and it's great to see them offering PenCott.

And some new scoff for Tommy, to go with his new uniform, sights, mags, vests, helmets, boots...

Troops on the front line in Afghanistan now have new and improved operational ration packs, including a lightweight version, and a host of new menus.
Designed for troops on patrols lasting 12 hours or less, the new lightweight ration pack weighs less than 1kg.

Steady on there OzCam junior, we don't take kindly to taxonomy fascists round these parts!

MultiCam MTP, as near as makes no difference. Even the British Army, famously fussy about dress regulations, has authorised the purchase and wear of MultiCam items with MTP until the proper stuff is issued.

That's a very big thing for them, it shows how similar the patterns are. I still can't tell them apart in photos. Polish Camogrom is almost identical too - just different enough to keep Crye Precision's lawyers at bay :)
