Sweet!!! Is that WE doing their own RIS? Saves me doing a bit of modding in the future:)

Pah, everyone wants ris now! pah! (doesnt feel special) Time to wack a ugl and peq2 on instead :D

    Nice find Chris :)

I dunno, I still kinda prefer the "original" handguard design tbh.
Something about that the sa80 with an RIS that just seems like too much RIS up front (if you can ever have too much rail space that is!) ? Tis like a great big black lump of lego bricks.

Woud rather just get some 4 or 6 inch rails and fit them to the original handguard myself.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

    now THAT is bastardisation :P

Newer 'handguards' do have a rail on the front end (right side infront of the gas parts) thats for the LLM 01 module, tbh, thats enough ris... At the moment mine just has susat and handguard and llm on, my ris is sat in the corner. (Not done much cqb to need it, and cant be arsed using it with nothing on)
Dunno, nobody seems to question m4s with ris, and nothing on them... perhaps its just because the gun is iconic it makes a huge difference?

I suppore its just that people are so used to seeing m4's with ris systems in the media that its just pretty much accepted thats the "standard" set up for em.

I just think the sa80 is a pretty destinctive looking piece with the green moulded parts running through it from stock to handguard that it gives a nice consistant look over all, when you introduce a big matte balck lump of detailed angular ris to the front it looks a bit off for some reason? Same with the specialised launcher for it, just makes it look very front loaded with most of the mass up front. Looks odd.

I guess I just like the standard look of the rilfe, balanced, consistant detailing and a nice highight of green to set it up. Futuristic but not too much. Like a working mans TAR!

Tbh, the ris is light as hell on the airsoft and real. The ballence is still over the pistol grip. Im glad we entered the 21st century with 203s and ris for when its needed...and I may well have an acog'd sa80 with ris and gripod... but i still have the handguard and susat to rock with my temperates... feels familiar...

Defo picking up one myself (when funds permit) but will be getting some 4inch rails attached for the handguard (probably just the underside) and a ris rail for the top with an eotech... somethig about the sa8 looks like it suits an eotech down to the ground .

In my view, they look horrid with eotechs on... Acog... lovely, eotech just looks stumpy... like the idiot child's attempt at making a tar+mars that was 'almost' right...

    SA80 with Acog are Nomtastic!
I was gonna purchase a SA80 when my 1st AEG broke but was told they break easy? possibly fiddely bits? is this true? or...
    Coz i ended up with a G36c...
    xXx

Any gun breaks easily if a tool owns it. Every gun is ok if someone non tool like owns it...

Every gun type has some problem for someone. You rarely hear people happy with things complaining on the internet... Ares sa80s are pretty darn hard... g&g can kill themselves as can army with the blowback and non standard components, yeah... star/ares is the safe bet really. A friend of mine has two, had em for 5 years now? well as long as they've been out. Hes sending them to me to service them... not repair... they have just been going so long, they need a tuneup. Pretty good in my book.

saw this on redwolf facebook page
In another clear example of the Chinese government's persistence in eliminating Airsoft in China, the owners of Element have been arrested and the company closed down last month. While the facts are still coming through, the rumor mill has it that the various owners were sentenced to over 5 years in prison. It's truly an unfortunate turn of events for this up and coming parts company. Tell us how you feel about Element being closed down!

Which would result in every clone AEG costing more than the original high end by the time every union is finished including raises on wages for workers, every courier and supply company has upped their prices and all of the various taxes and rates are applied to manufacturing and production.
We are in no way a large-item manufacturing country. Small, high tech stuff? Sure. You could easily set up a factory to knock out MOSFETs at a reasonable price, but you haven't a bogs hope of getting the cost price of an AEG being built, packaged and shipped for less than the full retail price of an existing clone.

Sad to see this happen to Element though. They really started carving out a substantial section of the market for themselves with their range of parts. They were starting to get more innovative in recent times too.
I'm genuinely surprised that they were targeted. AEG manufacturers, I know China has a problem with, but I did somehow think the accessory market was somewhat safe given they're essentially safe, inert, inconspicuous parts. Someone who ships flashlights, bearings and springs wouldn't be something you'd expect on a government hit-list.

Got an email of G&G this morning with a couple of new bits.

The only one of interest is a new stock similar to a Magpul CTS.

    G&G Item GOS-V1 G-05-042-2(Tan)

Others may have seen these already, but it is new to me!!:)

yeah it's the stock of their new line of Combat machines :) looks very comfortable.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

Is it just me, or does that cross-member look hinged?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,901 ✭✭✭T4RGET

Dex if the cross member is the bottom part beneatht he ceeck rest it's because it breaks open to store AAA batteries

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

because obviously war stuff uses ol' double As...:D

    We back in the 90s ? :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

Really? That's ridiculous. What a waste of possibilty. They could have hinged it and added a locking point at 90deg for use as stock monopod. Massively more useful than a compartment for your Game Boy batteries...

    Missed opportunity there.
