I posted here abit ago and basically I changed plugs and a coil pack on my mondeo. its a 01 model, zetec.

it runs great but it is sluggish when changing between gears, say at a roundie or things like taking off. It does not have any rough idle when left in neutral, just when you drive it this happens.

would this be a dirty MAF or some filter?

prior to changing the plugs and coil it ran like a dog and would nearly conk out when you were changing gears, its alot better now but for said problem, if that makes sense..

Something simillar was with mine merc. There is senor above airfilter. i dont know how it calls english. Air flow intake temperature sensor. they make engine go crazy: lost of power when just changed gear etc. you gone to second gear, pushing bottom, and it takes speed very slow , and then it starts gaining it normally.

sounds like your 'idle speed control valve' needs a good clean http://www.fordmondeo.org/forum/showtopic.php?tid/777240/post/1494295/hl/idle+speed/fromsearch/1/#1494295;)

There's no MAF in the Mondeo.
The low rpm sluggishnes can be caused by a dirty/faulty EGR valve.
Try to clean it first. How is your fuel consumption?
    Or:
The Duratec engine has a variable intake manifold. There are little flaps inside directing the air flow. It's a common problem with these engines, that these flaps gets worn, and they might stuck in one position.
If there is a nasty rattle(sound like a diesel engine) when your engine is warm and it goes away when you rev it above 2000rpm,than those flaps are worn.
The system if controlled by vacuum, there's a hose underneath the throttle body.Maybe it just came off or split.

If you look around the forum recommended above you'll find loads of topics on these subjects and how to test the manifold, clean the EGR etc.
