Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was thinking since this is the pregnancy thread that we could do a Due date list....

So if you just copy your name to the list of due dates and we can keep track of each other.

    So

Quality Due 9th November Baby No 3

    Hey gang,
I'm proud and happy to announce that our son, who was due September 4th, made his grand debut at 2:52 am on September 19th, weighing in at 8 pounds, 14 oz (I think that's 4 kg/20 grams over here, if memory serves) and measuring 23" long.

We did a home birth and he arrived without so much as a squawk in a birthing pool in our living room, with only my husband and midwife in attendance. It was fantastic.

Both baby and I are healthy, and happy - though it may be a few more days before I can sit comfortably. ;)

Wow, well done shell. That's a big bruiser of a baby!

We're still waiting. It's getting a bit boring at this stage! We were in the Rotunda last Tuesday and the baby hasn't yet dropped into the pelvic cavity. The doc took out the measuring tape and predicted a 10 pounder! At that stage a cesarian was muted. We'll know more Thursday week 2nd Oct as we've an ultrasound which should tell us a more accurate weight

Well done again shell, you'll have to post up a few pics!

Well folks our due date has been set in stone. It's Monday at approx 14:00 hours to be precise!!! It'll be by cesarian. We'd a scan last week and the baby's head wasn't even near the pelvis.

So the doctor left it another week and we went for the scan this morning. It's still no where near to pelvis added to the fact that the baby's weight is at 8lb 13oz with the OH being a petit 5ft 1in!!! We were advised to go for a C Section as the doc would be relucant to induce delivery with the baby so far up. Her blood pressure was slightly elevated also, so from Monday afternoon, we'll be welcoming another munchkin into this world. Can't wait :)

Well folks, the day arrived and passed without glitch. We have a beautiful baby girl, Jessica Grace weighing in at a healthy 9lbs 5oz who was born into this world yesterday at 14:43! There was not much sleep got on Sunday night and not much lastnight either!

In hindsight we were lucky that we didn't go down the natural birth way, as the doctor put it 'Jessica was playing skipping rope with the umbilical cord', which would have definitely led to complications the natural way, and would have ended up being a section anyway.

Woke up this morning after only 3 hours sleep and feel as energetic as if I'd had 8 hours! I'm running on adrenaline at the moment and am dying visit my two girls

I'm lost for words how much a gift and miracle childbirth is, particularily when it's your own. Without doubt, the most amazing day of my life.

Here's some pictures of the munchkin

Thanks for all your best wishes.

The birth went well barring a couple of minor issues. While the OH was prepared in the theatre, I was asked to stay outside and wait for the call. When the call came, a nurse was to escort me to the head of the table. As the OH half was taking part in 2 studys, 1) Methods to reduce bleeding during a section and 2) Methods to reduce pain after a section, there were more doctors the usual present at it. So I went into the theatre but couldn't make out where the operating table was with all the people. At this stage, the nurse who was escorting me got distracted and I ended up going to the foot of the table and got a glimpse of the stomach opening. Not a pretty sight, but having watched Holby City, ER and the likes, I was able to stay on my feet! The OH's doctor got slightly spooked and barked at the nurse. Funny in the end really as I wasn't too bothered.

I eventually was lead to the head of the table but happily enough, I couldn't see what was going on, as there was a screen going across the OH's chest. I attempted to comfort her thinking she could feel what was going on, but my attempts were in vain as she felt absolutely nothing! Everyone was very calm.

After a few suction noises, low and behold, Jessica was presented to us over the screen. She wasn't a happy camper being dragged from her comfortable, warm womb!!

The nurse that presented her, asked me to follow her over to a heat lamp, under which, Jessica was put. The part really amazed me as it was the first time I was able to bond with my daughter. While I held an oxygen tube up to Jessica's face, the nurse began cleaning her up. Within a couple of minutes, Jessica turned from being a bluey, whitey blob into a glowing pink human. Amazing stuff altogether.

Mammy was still on the table being finished up by the team. I was then asked to bring Jessica over the mammy where she was able to bond. Jessica was put on the mammy's chest and the 3 of us had a great chat for a few minutes!!

Jessica and I were then brought into a room off the theatre where I had to get her to feed off a bottle. After a few attempts and with the help of a student nurse she latched onto it. Mammy was then brought into recovery room and after about 10 minutes, Jessica and I went into meet her.

No so long later we all went up to mammy's room and basically everything was done!

I'll never forget that day as long as I live. A true miracle and gift

That's an amazing story. Thanks for sharing it with us. It's just the experience I'm hoping for. No Pain, no shouting or confusion and panic. Hope Mammy is doing well after the surgey.
