Thinking of buying a Sonos Digital System

Am in the market for a new digital wireless music system and looks like this is the one for me. However I have two questions which I would like to get answers to if anyone can help.

1. I dont want to leave my laptop turned on all the time - will it work with a NAS with no software and how does it connect to that ?

2. I have an old Philips home cinema with hard wired speakers which I would like to connect it to in one room what connection I am looking for on the home cinema to check it is there - system 8 years old

Any other advise recommendations on this system or a better alternative and where to buy would also be of great help

Question 1: Yes, as long as the NAS is supported by sonos, here is a list they gave me about a year ago, I think they have just added support for a few more in the latest software release

Question 2: You need a ZP80 or ZP90 and either a phono, co-axial digital or optical digital to connect to your old system


Oh and go with the Sonos, it is an absolutely fantastic system and i have yet to see a dissapointed customer

Some more information.

The Sonos system connects to the NAS over your home network i.e. Ethernet cabling. The first Sonos ZonePlayer (or ZoneBridge) must be wired into your router, then the Sonos controller and other ZonePlayers communicate wirelessly. You cannot stream music over a wireless connection to the Sonos system reliably. Practically all NAS work with Sonos, but you cannot use DAS systems which are often sold as NAS on eBay for example. Check the Sonos forums for details.

Best to buy it directly from Sonos - it's cheaper than the retailers here.
