Does anyone have the u values for the different manufactures of insulated boards. Namely Kingspan TW52, XTRATHERM , QUINN, Ballytherm
I am looking to buy the 38mm boards ( 25 mm Insulation + 12.5 slab)
Strangly they all seem to have very similar prices.........
Ive looked at thier IAB certs but its not very clear....
    Thanks,
    Da Lad

    U-values are related to thickness.
Kingspan have the U-values for a range of thickness of every board type on their website.
Its in their catalogue. Bare in mind this is for the board only, bridging this board will reuce it and other build up, walls, plaster will have an effect to improve it

they all produce essentially the same product ( PIR ) and achieve the same mm for mm performance

to confirm this look for the Lambda value ( symbol is upside down Y ) , AKA the thermal conductivity value - all will be the same ( 0.023 w/m/k)

    .

    Sinnerboy,
I see thay have the same lambda value of .22 -.23w/m/k But they hav a different thermal resistance for example Kingspan 25mm has thermal resistance of 1.136m2/k/w whereas the Ballytherm product is 0.962 m2/k/w.
Is the smaller figure the better or what.....
    Thanks,
    Da lad.

    conductivity is a constant factor

    resistance relates to thickness

one of them must be quoting a resistance of insulation + plasterboard
the other is quoting a resistance of insulation alone

the higher the numerical resistance value - the better
( the lower the numerical u value - the better )

all the products will perform the same
