Why are the original plates missing, import maybe? Also I don't see the car mats, worth looking at in case you think the mileage may have been clocked.

Must be an import because the tax is at the new rate.

That's an error in the ad - the car is 2006.

    Not your ornery onager

Sign of a gob****e selling it "NOTE THIS CAR IS ONLY 150 EURO ROAD TAX PER YEAR", incorrect, frightening information coming from a car dealer who should know it's only cars registered from 2008 can avail of this, import or not. Also no mention of service history and it's only a 2 year old car.

Surely not if the car was imported after July ! Regardless of year.

The new tax rated quoted in the ad is bull**** for starters as this is a 06 car and motor tax will be €590, they quote €16900 in ad, then say selling price is €16500 and then say its a steal at €13.5k. Ask for the previous reg and do a hpi and mileage check as I smell a rat.

Doesn't matter, imported Cars are taxed at CC based (old system) unless the car is first registered from 2008.
CO2 EMISSION LEVEL RATES FROM 1 JULY 2008
The attached document sets out the rates of motor tax for brand new vehicles/imported vehicles registered in this country after 1 July 2008. Cars registered before 1 January 2008 will continue to pay motor tax on the basis of engine size (cc rates are shown in previous link).

But if you import a 06 car in July 08, then it is first registerd in the ROI in 2008?

Just to be clear motor tax on pre 2008 cars including used imports is still basedd on the old engine size system. The VRT is calculated on the Co2 system however.

That advert is another case of a somebody advertising misleading information whether it be intentional or not, no wonder some buyers out there are still confused regarding the new system.

Thanks. That clears it up for me. Not based in Ireland at the moment so was not up-to-date on all the material.

<keith duffy> First registered is when the car was first registered, ie the place where it was registered for the first time, in this case Northern Ireland.:D</keith duffy>
