How to Moderate the Thunderdome

Maybe the Thunderdome can be renamed to "Fight Club"... so nobody is under any illusiions.

We need an oasis of political incorrectness away from the anally retentive "post reporters" of the boards. Ye know who you are.

I agree with the "opt in / opt out" idea alright.
For the most part the insult thread did play to those rules.

Maybe we can extend invitations to people we want to join the Thunderdome <img src=\\\\"http://static.boards.ie/vbulletin/images/smilies/smile.gif\\\\" border=\\\\"0\\\\" alt=\\\\"\\\\" title=\\\\"Smilie\\\\" smilieid=\\\\"9\\\\" class=\\\\"inlineimg\\\\" />

Flutterin Bantam too, he knows where the line is, by now.

    Ehh no thanks...

Have you not seem him lately??? He is a spell check nazi!!!

Line 1 in his rules and regulations would be spelling and grammar...

I think tbh would be an excellent candidate, going forward (another phrase I hate).

Flutterin Bantam too, he knows where the line is, by now.

You need someone with a sense of humour in there, who is also a regular rather than (with all due respect) a yes man.

    'nuff said.

    What he said.
Or else Roundy seems like a good choice.

I think he might surprise many with his latitude, if given the chance.

FWIW, I have no inside track here-I no longer, by choice, have access to the mod forum.
    What he said.

    No thanks, Dr.

Not for me any more :)

Flutterin Bantam would resemble that reference.

For my part, I LOL'd, long and hard :D

As far as I'm concerned, no fair moderation can occur in the thread if there is a set out guideline of what is acceptable and what is not.

My own opinion on the matter is that someone who enters the TD does so at their own risk and cannot complain about any abuse suffered there, however, bringing in someone who doesn't post there is over the line as they have not made the decision to enter the TD.

    My own 2c

Could we not make that Posters Typical Posts thread locked/read only? Hardly that bad that it needed deletion surley?

i agree with getting rid of the ability to move posts in to the forum.

We decided to delete it fully on the basis of the new charter that we ran up
But seeing as it was an original afterhours thread, I have nuked all posts after it was moved to the thunderdome and its open to be read only.

Why has the abilty to search posts in the 'dome being turned off or is it just at my end.

It is vital tool really if you want to use the insult thread.

I'd like to second tbh for mod- if hes willing to do it, that is........

thanks for the nominations everybody, I'd be happy to do it if asked. However, I think the charter as it's been drawn up is perfect really, it's just common sense.. I've always been a bit iffy about a mod for the thunderdome, because essentially the dome then becomes an extension of that persons personality. What that person finds funny is acceptable in the dome, what they don't, isn't. The charter as drawn up by spankeh seems to avoid that situation tho and so as long as he's happy to continue doing the job, the dome is in good hands :)

Thanks TBH, Im sure that spankeh will be the first to shout if he needs assistance.

The basic guidelines have been put in place, lets see how it works out.
